Job Description
Reporting to of the Manager Radiation Safety and Nuclear Transport, the EHS Compliance Specialist – Radiation will be a part of the radiation safety team within EHSS (Environmental, Health, Safety and Security) at Nordion. Key Responsibilities include leading and overseeing various radiation safety initiatives; and undertake general EHSS duties as required by the department.

Reporting to of the Manager Radiation Safety and Nuclear Transport, the EHS Compliance Specialist – Radiation will be a part of the radiation safety team within EHSS (Environmental, Health, Safety and Security) at Nordion. Key Responsibilities include leading and overseeing various radiation safety initiatives; and undertake general EHSS duties as required by the department.
Key Responsibilities
The position will undertake the implementation of a number of radiation safety improvement projects related to:
- implementation of new CNSC requirements
- minimizing releases
- modernization of radiation equipment and processes, and
- other projects as may be identified.
Qualifications
- Four to six years of health and safety experience coupled with, a University degree or three year community college diploma in a relevant technical field.
- Preference for 2+ years experience in a regulatory environment, preferably in a Class 1B nuclear facility
- Strong analytical thinking and organizational skills
- Background in radiation science
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize multiple key activities
- Drive to continuously learn, challenge the status quo and collaboratively implement change
