As a caring, responsible health care team member, you will support clients to be as safe and independent in their homes as possible, helping them to live their best lives. You will be required to perform light housekeeping tasks, meal preparation, and other duties as indicated in client care plans. You will act at all times with the client and their family at the heart of all you do, observing, documenting, and reporting any changes in their condition to your Manager/Supervisor.

As a caring, responsible health care team member, you will support clients to be as safe and independent in their homes as possible, helping them to live their best lives. You will be required to perform light housekeeping tasks, meal preparation, and other duties as indicated in client care plans. You will act at all times with the client and their family at the heart of all you do, observing, documenting, and reporting any changes in their condition to your Manager/Supervisor.
- Please note, this role is an entry level position and does not require personal care or a personal support worker certificate*
- Assist with general household management including light housekeeping duties, shopping, meal planning and preparation (recognizing any diet restrictions that may apply).
- Encourage the Client in maintaining independence by supporting them to maintain a clean home
- Performs other related housekeeping tasks as indicated in the individualized written client service plan.
- Practices universal precautions and adheres to WHMIS protocols.
- Recognizes and reports safety concerns or equipment malfunction in the home environment and acts accordingly to meet the safety and the protection needs of the Client.
- Able to establish communication with appropriate sources in response to emergency
- Be conscious of the hazards in the home environment and to act accordingly in meeting the safety and protection needs of the Client.
- Observes, documents and reports any emotional or physical changes in the Client's conditions.
- Ability to travel from home to home within the community
- Vehicle insurance and Valid Ontario Driver's License required
- A clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening within the last 12 months
- Proof of a negative TB test within the last 12 months and an up-to-date immunization record
- Strong verbal and written English communication skills required; the ability to communicate in French or other languages is considered an asset
- Reliability and strong organization skills
- Ability to safely lift up to 35 lbs. (16 kg)
