Job Description
As an Assistant Controller, you’ll work closely with the Site Controller and the Corporate Finance team to ensure that the corporate policies and procedures are implemented locally, in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles and complying with government regulations of the jurisdiction overseeing the local finance department. The Assistant Site Controller collaborates to the production of value added information to decision makers and supervises the accounting technicians.
What does your typical day look like?
As an Assistant Controller, you’ll work closely with the Site Controller and the Corporate Finance team to ensure that the corporate policies and procedures are implemented locally, in conformity with generally accepted accounting principles and complying with government regulations of the jurisdiction overseeing the local finance department. The Assistant Site Controller collaborates to the production of value added information to decision makers and supervises the accounting technicians.
What does your typical day look like?
- Oversee the transactional components of the expense cycles, excluding regular suppliers, optimizing timeliness and accuracy;
- Develop, monitor and improve systems, policies and procedures supporting transactional components;
- Collaborate closely with site leadership to rectify areas of exposure, find solutions for business problems, and propose appropriate methods of accounting for new or changing activities;
- Assist the Site Controller in providing complete and accurate financial statements, budgets and forecasts in a timely manner;
- Assist the Site Controller in providing management with accurate and timely information necessary to make strategic decisions;
- Support the Site Controller in managing team performance, recruitment, retention and development of staff;
- Assist the Site Controller in the preparation of annual financial audits.
- Certified Public Accountant designation;
- 5 or more years of leadership experience;
- Bilingual (French & English);
- Excellent interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work collaboratively with other departments;
- Ability to challenge the status quo;
- Excellent accounting skills;
- Demonstrated foundation of ethical decision making, operates with a high degree of integrity;
- Ability to manage change and rapid growth;
- Ability to strategize and engage in long-term planning;
- Knowledge of SAGE would be an asset.
