Position Overview:

Finning Canada is looking for passionate Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technicians to join our New Equipment Prep team in Regina. As a NEP Technician, you will be responsible for the inspection, installation, adjustment and testing of a variety of Caterpillar general line products.

Job Description:

Major Job Functions

  • Inspect and install customer options on a variety of Caterpillar equipment
  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions related to the NEP using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools
  • Test new equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer specifications
  • Perform basic routine maintenance work
  • Various related duties as required

Specific Skills & Experience

  • Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Technician Certification (Red Seal preferred)
  • Minimum 1 year experience as a Heavy Duty Technician
  • Safety conscious team player with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills with a high attention to detail
  • Understanding of the Caterpillar product line and previous repair experience on the equipment would be considered an asset
  • Engine and/or component rebuilding experience would be considered an asset
  • Transmission or Hydraulic testing would be considered an asset
  • Experience with Lawson, SIS (Service Information System) and warranty systems considered assets
  • Completion of Finning S-Levels, Failure Analysis, Machine Electronic Controls, or Tier 4 training would be considered an asset
  • Previous experience with NEP in related fields would be considered an asset
  • Previous gas engine and power generation experience would be considered an asset.
  • Valid Driver’s license.
  • Any other relevant training as required would be considered an asset such as:
  • o WHMIS
  • o H2S Alive
  • o Fall Protection
  • o Forklift
  • o Overhead Crane
  • o Eye, Hand and Back Safety
  • o Transportation of Dangerous goods
  • o Contamination Control
  • Please note that 3rd/4th year Apprentice Mechanics may also be considered for this posting.
