Under the direction of the Director of Care or designate, is responsible for assisting with all primary care duties related to feeding, personal hygiene, and assessment of residents emotional, physical, and social well-being.

Grid 22 - $29.83/hour – Master Collective
Compensation
The target hiring range for this position is $31.89 to $31.89 with a maximum of $31.89.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.

Under the direction of the Director of Care or designate, is responsible for assisting with all primary care duties related to feeding, personal hygiene, and assessment of residents emotional, physical, and social well-being.
Responsibilities
Position Purpose summary:
- Provides personal care to residents such as bathing, dressing, grooming, oral hygiene and care of skin and nails.
- Reports to team leader any adverse conditions observed in the resident like behavior changes, skin breakdowns and constipation.
- Assists with transfers and mobilization of resident using body mechanics and mechanical aides such as walker, wheelchair, and lifts.
- Performs nursing procedures such as administering suppositories, enemas, collects specimens, recording intake and output and administering non-sterile dressings.
- Records observations and reports any change/problems in resident’s condition such as bowels/urine output, mobility, temperature, skin integrity, appetite, and behavior to designated Registered Nurse and/or Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Transports residents to and from dining room areas and transports residents to activity programs.
- Assists residents with meals by serving and collecting meal trays, feeding, and assisting residents at meal times, serves, and monitors intake of nourishments to designated resident and monitors output of residents.
- Changes and makes beds, sanitizes residents’ basins, bedpans, and urinals. Replenishes unit and residents’ supplies as needed from designated storage area. Reports shortage to Registered Nurse and/or Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Reports malfunctioning equipment and safety hazards to Team Leader.
- Completes daily POC assessments on all assigned residents.
- Performs related clerical duties such as typing, answering the telephone, making appointments, and ordering supplies through stores.
- Must maintain good standing in the BC Care Aide Registry.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
- Completion of Grade 10 plus graduation from a recognized Nursing Assistance program as a Health Care Aide program.
- Must be registered and in good standing with the BC Care Aide Registry.
- Must have a clear Criminal Record check.
- Must have completed the 8 High Risk violence prevention modules on the Learning Hub.
- Must have a current Food Safe certificate.
- Must have a current First Aid and CPR certificate.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to organize work.
- Ability to deal with other effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to operate related equipment.

- Background check consent.
- A clear vulnerable sector CRC.
- Completion of our online Praesidium Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training.
- Must be able to start on the posted start date.
