The Trinity Team is seeking a talented Fiber Optic Technician. The Fiber Optic Technician will install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair fiber optic networks across Ontario. The technician will be responsible for working with fiber optic cables and network components to ensure high-quality signal transmission for telecommunications, internet, and data services.

This position will be based in Windsor, ON.

What You Will Be Working On

  • Installation & Splicing:
    • Install aerial and underground fiber optic cables.
    • Perform splicing and termination of fiber optic cables using fusion or mechanical splicing techniques.
    • Set up network equipment, enclosures, and patch panels.
  • Testing & Troubleshooting:
    • Use OTDR, power meters, and light source testers to test fiber links.
    • Identify and resolve network faults and service disruptions.
    • Perform continuity, loss, and reflectance testing.
  • Maintenance:
    • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance on fiber networks.
    • Document test results, splicing diagrams, and as-built records accurately.
  • Safety & Compliance:
    • Follow all industry standards and local health and safety regulations.
    • Use appropriate PPE and worksite protocols, including working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • Customer Service:
    • Interact with customers and clients in a professional manner.
    • Provide updates on job progress and service delivery timelines.
What We Are Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification or diploma in Telecommunications, Electronics, or related field preferred.
  • 5 years of experience in fiber optic installation and maintenance.
  • Experience with fiber splicing and testing equipment (e.g., OTDR, fusion splicers).
  • Knowledge of fiber optic theory, color codes, and standards.
  • Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and network diagrams.
  • Proficient with hand tools, power tools, and fiber preparation tools.
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license (G class or higher).
  • Willingness to travel within Ontario.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends when needed.
  • Preferred Certifications (Not mandatory but a plus):
    • FOA CFOT (Certified Fiber Optic Technician)
    • OSP Certification (Outside Plant)
    • Working at Heights, WHMIS, First Aid, or confined space certification
