The Web Development Manager - Alberta is an on-site role reporting to the Chief Information Officer - Alberta is based in the Sherwood Park location. The Web Development Manager - Alberta is responsible in leading a team of web developers. This position oversees projects from conception to implementation, designing and developing web architecture, and providing guidance on technical issues.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Manage front and back-end web to ensure technical quality, product quality, and efficient use of resources.
  • Perform code reviews and provide feedback on all internal and external code.
  • Lead scoping, development planning, and technical architecture for all aspects of company.
  • Understand available and potential implementation techniques and propose the most appropriate approach.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement new platforms and online systems, both internal and external that could be beneficial to the goals of the company.
  • Develop and manage complex project plans, ensure timelines are accurate and expectations are communicated and work with team members to understand problems, dependencies, and project milestones.
  • Identify, articulate, and manage project risks and issues as well as drive project risks and issues through to resolution using project management methodology.
  • Understanding UI, cross-browser compatibility, and general web functionality and standards.
  • Monitoring website traffic and making adjustments.
  • Staying up to date with industry developments.
  • Design skills with optimization in mind to enhance visibility and performance.
  • Working closely with developers, content creators, and stakeholders to align design with business goals.
  • Provide occasional after-hours support to maintain business continuity and address critical system issues when necessary.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of 5+ years in web development is required.
  • Minimum of 3+ years' experience in a managerial position with proven ability in people management and change management to drive a high performing culture is required/an asset.
  • Intermediate skill with Microsoft Office (Word/Excel) is required.
  • Fluent in English with proven competencies in verbal and written communication is required.
  • Fluent in French with proven competencies in verbal and written communication is an asset.
  • Successful completion of a credit check, criminal background check, education verification, and employment reference checks is required before employment.
