What You Will Be Doing

Inspection and Quality Control:

  • Inspect and verify the condition of moulds used for precast segmental bridge deck production, ensuring they meet design specifications and industry standards.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of moulds before, during, and after each use to ensure they are free from defects, damage, or wear.
  • Ensure that moulds are cleaned and properly oiled/lubricated before the placement of rebar cage
  • Ensure the moulds are properly maintained to prevent contamination that could affect the quality of the concrete segments.

Pre-Casting Preparation

  • Review the specifications, drawings, and production plans to verify the correct mould setup and alignment before casting.
  • Ensure that all required mould components, including inserts, form liners, and reinforcement, are installed correctly and are properly aligned.
  • Check the calibration of moulds to confirm that they conform to the necessary dimensional tolerances.

Monitoring Casting Process

  • Monitor the pouring of concrete into the moulds to ensure that it is performed according to the required procedures.
  • Inspect and monitor concrete flow, consolidation, and curing to ensure the segments are cast correctly.
  • Ensure that moulds are properly sealed to prevent leakage and ensure uniformity in the concrete segments.

Documentation And Reporting

  • Prepare and complete pre-pour inspection checklists for all segments
  • Prepare and complete post pour inspection checklists for all segments
  • Maintain accurate records of mould inspections, including detailed reports of inspections, actions taken, and any issues identified.
  • Report defects or non-compliance with specifications to the Quality Control Engineering Coordinator or Quality Control Manager promptly.

Coordination With Production Team

  • Collaborate with engineers, production teams, and quality control personnel to resolve issues related to moulds, materials, or production processes.

Troubleshooting

  • Identify and troubleshoot issues such as air pockets, surface defects, or misalignments during casting.
  • Take corrective actions to prevent defective segments, including adjusting mould setup, re-calibrating, or initiating repairs.

Collaboration And Training

  • Assist in training new mould inspectors or staff on proper inspection techniques, safety protocols, and equipment handling.
  • Participate in team meetings to discuss production performance and quality issues related to moulds.

What We Are Looking For

  • Post secondary technical certificate/diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5+ years of experience in construction, building inspection, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Familiarity with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Proficiency in report writing and documentation.
