Our Engineering & Transportation Department is looking for a dedicated Heavy Equipment Operator /Transportation Maintenance Worker to join the team.
Position Responsibilities
The main duties for these positions include plowing snow on priority roadways with a team of graders and loaders maintaining safe passage of traffic.
Heavy Equipment Operator (EOII)
Operates And Is Responsible For The Following
In addition to performing the work of a Maintenance Worker I, responsible for the repair, maintenance, installation and removal of the storm sewer system, raking asphalt on the paving crew and other similar duties. The position requires experience and skill in the maintenance, repair, and construction of storm systems and assisting with the maintenance of records. Responsible for accurate record keeping of maintenance activities carried out and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Hours
The standard workweek consists of an average of 40 hours, with the specific schedule being determined by the immediate supervisor.
Compensation
Starting salary HEO $38.87/MWII $36.42 per hour as per the CUPE Collective Agreement.

- Motor Grader with attachments
- Tandem Plow Truck with Sand/Salt spreader and attachments including Wing
- Front End Loader with attachments
- Backhoe Loader
- Bidirectional Flail Mowers
- Snow Blowers (Min 7’ width)
- Self Propelled Asphalt Paver
- Vacuum Eductor Truck
- Line Painting Unit
- Broce Broom
- Tandem Axle Water Truck
- Aerial Lift or Bucket Truck (>35 feet extension)
- Other similar equipment
- Other duties as assigned
- Street Sweeper (3 cubic yards and over)

The position requires experience and skill in the maintenance, repair, and construction of storm systems and assisting with the maintenance of records. Responsible for accurate record keeping of maintenance activities carried out and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Requires thorough knowledge of regulations, standards and practices relating to traffic control devices, operation, inspection, installation, and maintenance.
- Valid Alberta Driver’s License (Class 3 with Air Brakes Endorsement).
- Experience in storm water maintenance work, storm line cleaning, and familiarity with working around eductor truck, confined space, experience in plow and sanding operations and the ability to work on shifts that will supply 24/7 coverage during winter operations.
- Knowledge of operation and maintenance of a Motor Grader, Street Sweeper, and Loader.
- Experience in all aspects of Asphalt Placement Program and Snow Removal Operations.
- The ability to work shifts.
- Knowledge of other Transportation Crews duties.
- Certification in First Aid and WHMIS and Transportation of Dangerous Goods.
- Basic Computer Skills.
- High School Diploma or equivalency.
- Ability to become skilled at operating other equipment as required.
