The People & Culture Coordinator will contribute to the overall success of Coast Hotels by providing superior administrative support in the human resources functions for both the Coast Chilliwack Hotel by APA and the Corporate People & Culture team. The People & Culture Coordinator is responsible for implementing progressive people practices and contributing to a positive work environment focused on Coast Hotels’ values and culture, all while contributing to exceptional Ambassador and guest satisfaction.

The People & Culture Coordinator will contribute to the overall success of Coast Hotels by providing superior administrative support in the human resources functions for both the Coast Chilliwack Hotel by APA and the Corporate People & Culture team. The People & Culture Coordinator is responsible for implementing progressive people practices and contributing to a positive work environment focused on Coast Hotels’ values and culture, all while contributing to exceptional Ambassador and guest satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Acts as a point of contact for the People & Culture functional area by being visible and accessible, providing open access for Ambassadors to build rapport, discuss issues and resolve concerns
- Coordinates and handles a variety of confidential human resources transactions including new hire on-boarding administration, benefits enrollment, position transfers and promotions, separations and compensation changes
- Maintains the accuracy and integrity of the human resources database and Ambassador files, monitoring future-dated actions and coordinating follow up as required
- Provides support to the company and property relating to recruitment and selection, by distributing job postings, corresponding with applicants, participating in interviews, conducting reference checks and drafting offer letters as requested
- Provides support to the company and property relating to retention, training and professional development opportunities by fostering a motivating and engaging environment and supporting programs involving ambassador recognition, health and safety, wellness, training and development
- Generates reports and analyzes human resource metrics as requested or required; tracks and monitors progress on human resources initiatives as assigned
- Handles administrative duties that are routine and straightforward such as taking meeting minutes, responding to basic inquiries, drafting & distributing correspondence, formatting reports and presentations, managing incoming calls
- Other duties as required.
- Previous experience in human resources administration (familiarity with Ceridian Dayforce is an asset)
- Diploma or degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or a related discipline desired
- Previous experience working in the hospitality industry is an asset
- CPHR designation or working towards CPHR designation is an asset
- Knowledge of the Employment Standards Act, the BC Personal Information Protection Act, the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and other applicable employment legislation
- Proficient in MS Office Suite, with intermediate Excel skills
- Service-oriented and self-motivated, able to work with minimal direction
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to accurately execute detailed administrative processes
- Demonstrated experience exercising confidentiality and discretion
- Demonstrated experience holding others accountable for adherence to internal processes
- Exemplifies Coast Hotels’ core values and enjoys working in a culture of accountability
