Job Description:

On behalf of our client, Affinity is looking for a Technical Design Lead to define technical roadmaps, ensure the technical approach aligns with the organization’s goals, oversee the design and architecture of technical solutions, and manage the technical design team and quality of design deliverables.

Responsibilities:

• Align with Business Goals: Ensuring that the technical approach aligns with the organization's goals and supports the overall business strategy.

• Technology Design Approach: Defining and communicating the technical design approach to gain consensus and support from the Program leadership and key Innovation, Technology and Analytics personnel

• Define Technical Roadmap: Leading the creation of a technical roadmap. This includes making decisions about solutions, related technologies, and tools.

• Design Solutions: Overseeing the design and architecture of technical solutions that align with business needs. This includes ensuring that solutions are scalable, secure, and cost-effective.

• Integrate Systems: Ensuring that the new solutions integrate smoothly with existing systems, data architectures, and business processes. This might include defining integration specifications.

• Options and Recommendations: Documenting and presenting solution options as well as recommendations for key decisions, along with appropriate supporting materials

• Lead Technical Teams: Leading and ensuring technical teams are clear on the technical direction, priorities, and deadlines.

• Stakeholder Communication: Acting as a liaison between technical teams and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment on progress and expectations.

• Conflict Resolution: Resolving technical conflicts and challenges that arise within the team or across cross-functional groups.

• Agile Practices: Managing backlogs of technical design deliverables. Defining objectives to achieve in upcoming agile iterations. Ensuring the technical team is on track to meet milestones.

• Risk Management: Identifying potential technical risks early in the process and proactively managing them.

• Quality Assurance: Ensuring that the team is following best practices for software development to deliver high-quality solutions.

• Collaboration: Engaging regularly with business stakeholders to understand requirements, communicate technical constraints, and ensure that the technology roadmap remains aligned with business needs.

• Demonstrate Progress: Communicating the progress of technical work to stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into understandable terms for non-technical stakeholders.

• Standards and Best Practices: Ensuring technical standards, code quality, and best practices are followed to maintain consistency and minimize technical debt.

• Security and Compliance: Ensuring the technical solution meets all required compliance and security standards.

• Managing Technical Debt: Balancing innovation with sustainable practices. Addressing quick fixes and legacy code issues promptly.

Qualifications:

• At least 15 years of IT experience, which might have been gained through full-time roles in areas such as software development, systems engineering, or IT consulting

• University degree in computer science, information technology or related areas

• At least 6 years of experience in a role accountable for the design of large-scale enterprise software systems and/or the definition of business application portfolios

• At least 5 years of experience interacting with senior IT managers and business executives

Hourly Rate: $100.00 - $120.00 Per Hour.
