Your Opportunity:
Home Care Health Care Aides provide service to clients in the lodges & their homes in Grande Prairie & surrounding area. This position is currently assigned to community but could be subject to change as required. You must be a certified Health Care Aide and be registered with the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Experience in seniors’ health is an asset. Candidate must be willing to change assignment as needed to service facility and community clients. You must have a valid driver’s license and be comfortable driving in all-weather/road conditions. You must have a reliable vehicle with business insurance for work purposes. You must be willing to work alone and/or with limited supervision. You must be willing to work days/ evenings/nights/weekends/stats and both short and long shifts. We are looking for a candidate who has a positive approach both with clients and peers. In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. PLEASE NOTE: This posting is scheduled to close at 23:59 of the posting end date but may be filled earlier if a Regular Employee who holds a position within this unit or program expresses their interest in this vacancy by 23:59 on the 5th calendar day following the posting date. Description:
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.
Classification: Health Care Aide Union: AUPE AUX Unit and Program: Home Care Primary Location: Grande Prairie Virene Building Location Details: As Per Location Multi-Site: Not Applicable FTE: 0.70 Posting End Date: 01-OCT-2024 Employee Class: Regular Part Time Date Available: 11-OCT-2024 Hours per Shift: 7.75 Length of Shift in weeks: 4 Shifts per cycle: 14 Shift Pattern: Days, Evenings, Nights, Weekends Days Off: As Per Rotation Minimum Salary: $20.78 Maximum Salary: $25.26 Vehicle Requirement: Driver's License, Vehicle Required
Required Qualifications:
Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification.
Additional Required Qualifications:
Current CPR, reliable vehicle for work purposes and acceptable drivers abstract. At least 1 years’ experience dealing with all entire age spectrum including seniors.
Preferred Qualifications:
Supportive Pathways/P.I.E.C.E.S course. Palliative Care course/experience. NVCI course. It’s Your Move course. Medication Assistance Program (MAP). Foot care course/experience.
