ROLE
The Clinical Nurse Educator supports the organization’s mission, vision, values, HPHA Guiding Principles, and corporate quality priorities by advancing safe, evidence-based nursing practice across the organization. The Educator provides leadership in clinical education, professional development, and practice improvement to optimize patient outcomes and support regulatory compliance.
The Educator facilitates quality-driven practice change by applying effective change-management strategies, coaching and mentoring techniques, and evidence-informed education methods. The role promotes critical thinking, reflective practice, and alignment with College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) standards.
The Educator conducts ongoing learning needs assessments with nursing staff and leaders, identifying gaps and improvement opportunities based on organizational goals, clinical outcomes, regulatory requirements, and patient safety indicators. They develop, implement, and evaluate education plans and resources using adult education principles to support safe, consistent, and high-quality care.
In collaboration with Clinical Managers, Program Directors, Corporate Leads, and Team Leaders, and other organizational partners the Educator coordinates and delivers nursing orientation, transition programs, preceptor development, and ongoing professional development activities. The Educator supports the integration of best practices, new equipment or technologies, clinical documentation standards, and organizational policies into daily practice.
