We are currently looking for SHIPPING ASSOCIATE to join our OAKVILLE team. This is a full-time, permanent position responsible for preparing customer orders for shipment, completing shipping documentation, loading and unloading trucks, maintaining inventory accuracy, and supporting the efficient operation of our Shipping and Warehouse departments. The position requires someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically demanding warehouse environment and takes pride in accuracy, organization, and safe work practices. We are looking for a competent, safety-oriented person with excellent attendance who can work independently in varying environments!

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and verify shipping documentation, including packing slips, bills of lading, invoices, customs documentation, and other required paperwork.
  • Assemble orders and prepare products for shipment in accordance with customer and transportation requirements.
  • Assemble containers and crates and securely shrink-wrap, strap, or otherwise prepare pallets and shipments for transportation.
  • Verify outgoing shipments against shipping records and physical product to ensure accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation.
  • Identify, document, and report shipment discrepancies, damages, or other irregularities to the appropriate personnel.
  • Safely and efficiently load trucks and trailers, assisting drivers with loading and securing shipments as required.
  • Receive incoming products and materials from trucks and ensure they are promptly and accurately unloaded, identified, and stocked in the appropriate location.
  • Complete all required warehouse and inventory transactions systematically and ensure physical movements are accurately reflected in the appropriate systems.
  • Perform inventory management activities including stocking, replenishment, product movements, transfers, and organization.
  • Maintain accurate inventory locations and support the investigation and resolution of inventory discrepancies.
  • Monitor inventory levels and ensure the availability of required supplies, products, and packaging materials.
  • Operate warehouse equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment, in accordance with established procedures and training.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and housekeeping standards throughout assigned warehouse and shipping areas.
  • Ensure shipping areas, loading zones, and equipment are maintained in a safe and orderly condition.
  • Work collaboratively with Shipping, Warehouse, Production, and other internal teams to maximize productivity, efficiency, and service levels.
  • Support the timely processing of customer orders and contribute to meeting established shipping and turnaround requirements.
  • Assist with inventory counts, audits, reconciliations, and other inventory-control activities as required.
  • Follow established procedures for the safe handling, storage, and movement of products and materials.
  • Identify opportunities to improve warehouse and shipping processes and communicate recommendations to management.
  • Ensure compliance with established health, safety, and workplace practices at all times.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Manager or designate.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work primarily in a warehouse and shipping environment, with regular exposure to loading docks, production areas, and other industrial workspaces.
  • Ability to work in a loud warehouse and industrial environment for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the workday.
  • Ability to safely navigate warehouse and shipping environments, including areas with forklifts, pallet jacks, dock doors, uneven surfaces, and varying noise levels.
  • Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull materials, packages, and other items, including loads weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb stairs as required to handle, inspect, stock, and retrieve products and materials.
  • Ability to safely load and unload trucks and trailers and assist with the movement and positioning of pallets, containers, and other materials.
  • Ability to perform repetitive physical tasks, including packing, wrapping, assembling, stocking, and moving products and materials.
  • Ability to operate or work in proximity to material-handling equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, drivers, and other personnel in a busy and noisy warehouse environment.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) when working in designated warehouse, shipping, or production areas.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a warehouse, shipping, receiving, or distribution environment preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail with a demonstrated commitment to accuracy and organization.
  • Ability to accurately prepare, review, and process shipping documentation and records.
  • Basic computer literacy with the ability to learn and effectively use ERP, warehouse management, shipping, and other relevant systems.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate effectively with coworkers, drivers, and other internal and external personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently while managing multiple tasks and priorities within established deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with shifting priorities.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and follow established procedures when handling products, shipments, inventory, and equipment.
  • Reliable, dependable, and willing to contribute to a positive and productive team environment.
  • Ability to safely operate or willingness to be trained on forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as business needs require.
  • Must be willing to work in a loud warehouse and industrial environment.
  • Must wear required PPE while performing job functions; CSA-approved steel-toed safety footwear is mandatory.

As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to submit a clear Criminal Record Check, at their own expense, prior to start date.

This position operates on a straight afternoon basis and is eligible for shift premium.
