Position Overview

Superior Autobody is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented

Automotive Painter to join our team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, refinishing, and painting vehicles to a high-quality standard while maintaining productivity, accuracy, and a clean and safe work environment.

We are looking for someone who takes pride in their workmanship, has a strong eye for colour and finish quality, and understands the importance of delivering consistent results in a professional collision repair environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare vehicles and individual panels for refinishing, including sanding, masking, cleaning, and final surface preparation.
• Mix and match automotive paint colours using manufacturer specifications and colour-matching systems.
• Apply primers, sealers, base coats, clear coats, and other refinishing materials.
• Blend adjacent panels as required to achieve proper colour matching.
• Inspect completed work for color accuracy, coverage, texture, finish quality, and defects.
• Perform polishing, denibbing, and minor paint correction as required.
• Identify and correct paint imperfections before vehicles are released.
• Follow repair plans and work closely with estimators, body technicians, detailers, and management to maintain an efficient production flow.
• Maintain spray guns, paint equipment, paint booths, mixing areas, and related tools.
• Monitor paint and refinishing material usage and minimize unnecessary waste.
• Follow manufacturer procedures, product technical data sheets, and established shop processes.
• Maintain accurate documentation as required for repair files and quality-control procedures.
• Follow all workplace health and safety requirements, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and safe handling of paints, solvents, and refinishing products.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work area.
• Assist other members of the production team when required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as an automotive painter or automotive refinishing technician is strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge of automotive refinishing processes, products, and equipment.
• Experience with colour matching, blending, and multi-stage paint systems.
• Ability to consistently produce a high-quality finished product.
• Strong attention to detail and quality control.
• Ability to work efficiently in a production-oriented collision repair environment.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Ability to follow written repair procedures, manufacturer specifications, and safety requirements.
• Valid driver's licence is preferred.
• Journeyperson certification or equivalent automotive refinishing training is considered an asset.
• I-CAR or manufacturer-specific training is considered an asset.

Physical Requirements

The position requires the ability to:

• Stand and work on your feet for extended periods.
• Bend, crouch, kneel, reach, and work around vehicles.
• Safely lift and move automotive parts, equipment, and materials.
• Wear appropriate respiratory protection and other required personal protective equipment.
• Work safely in and around paint booths, preparation areas, chemicals, and refinishing materials.

Compensation

Pay Structure: Flat Rate

Wage / Salary Range: $30-$36 per hour, based on experience

Final compensation will be based on the successful candidate’s experience, qualifications, technical ability, and the compensation structure established for the position.
