Help strengthen public trust through responsible information access and privacy practices. As our Access and Privacy Coordinator, you will lead and support key elements of the City's access to information and privacy program, helping ensure legislative compliance, sound information practices, and responsive service to employees, applicants, and the community.

What You'll Do

  • Lead and support the City's access to information and privacy programs, ensuring compliance with applicable legislation.
  • Coordinate information access requests and provide guidance to departments on privacy best practices.
  • Identify privacy risks, investigate privacy concerns, and recommend practical solutions to protect personal information.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and translate changes into clear organizational guidance.
  • Build collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders, external regulators, and municipal partners while supporting boards, elections, and other legislative processes as required.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to interpret legislation and assess risk.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Project management experience, with the ability to plan, coordinate, and move initiatives forward across multiple stakeholders and priorities.
  • A collaborative, service-oriented mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and public service excellence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, or a related field from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Five years of related experience in public administration, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Working knowledge of the Access to Information Act, Protection of Privacy Act, and other privacy legislation relevant to municipalities.
  • Knowledge of municipal legislation, records management, administrative law, and related governance practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business software; experience with agenda management software is an asset.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required certifications related to Administrative Law, Privacy Management, and Board Clerk functions.
  • Privacy-related certifications (CIPP/C, CIAPP) or related privacy education, as well as Local Government Administration coursework, are considered assets.
