About this Opportunity: Paramount’s Surface Land team is seeking a Senior Surface Landman to serve as a field representative, supporting fast-paced development across a freehold land base in Central Alberta. In this role, you will act as the primary point of contact for all Surface Land matters — cultivating trust with local stakeholders and ensuring regulatory compliance through construction, drilling, completions, and ongoing operations. Reporting to the Manager of Surface Land and working closely with the Area Surface Lead, Negotiator.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities pertain to construction, drilling, completions, and operational project phases.
Stakeholder Engagement: Lead proactive communication with local stakeholders, including, landowners, residents, municipal government, synergy groups, community organizations, third-party operators, industry partners, and regulatory agencies.
- Serve as a community liaison for the company by promoting respectful stakeholder engagement and maintaining a positive presence within the communities where we operate.
- Provide activity notice to appropriate stakeholders.
- Develop and maintain trusted relationships with key stakeholders and communities.
- Manage stakeholder inquiries and concerns with a resolution driven approach, ensuring a prompt and professional response.
- Conduct field visits to monitor stakeholder concerns, assess land related issues, and identify opportunities to support operational success.
- Attend and participate in Paramount Community Open Houses and monthly Synergy Group meetings.
- Support ongoing operations by managing routine stakeholder and operational inquiries, identifying solutions, and escalating issues as required.
- Work closely with field operations teams to address day-to-day stakeholder concerns and operational inquiries in a responsive and professional manner.
- Provide frontline support for day-to-day operational activities.
Risk Management: Proactively apply a problem-solving approach to challenges, identifying risks and clearly communicating them to the appropriate internal departments to ensure timely resolution.
Acquisition: Support the planning, routing, and acquisition requirements for waterline projects.
Negotiation: Lead negotiations and settlements related to rental reviews, damage claims, and other Surface Land-related Agreements.
Additional Responsibilities
- Undertake additional responsibilities as required to support business needs.
- Provide vacation coverage for Surface Land Lead, Central Area.
Skills and Qualifications
- Active Land Agent License.
- The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of related Surface Land experience.
- Surface Land experience in freehold areas, stakeholder relations, construction, and field operations within the energy industry.
- Exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, combined with strong communication, problem-solving, risk-management and conflict-resolution capabilities.
- Highly organized with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple high-priority tasks simultaneously.
- Familiarity with construction, drilling, completions, and Surface Land operations.
- Understanding of Surface Land Agreements, rental review process and documents, and damage settlements.
- Strong knowledge of AER directives, applicable legislation, and industry best practices to ensure regulatory compliance and responsible development.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regularly within Central Alberta, as required.
- BC experience an asset.
