About The Role

The successful candidate will have a strong background in building envelope estimating, with experience across residential multifamily, commercial, and industrial projects. This role will be responsible for leading estimating activities, preparing competitive bids, performing detailed quantity takeoffs, and supporting project and business development teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and submit accurate, competitive bids within required deadlines.
• Review architectural drawings, blueprints, specifications, and contract documents.
• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for building envelope projects.
• Lead bid preparation, coordination, and review activities.
• Conduct site visits as required to understand project conditions and scope.
• Review contracts and identify scope, cost, and commercial considerations.
• Use quantity takeoff and estimating software to develop accurate estimates.
• Analyze historical project data, market conditions, pricing trends, and industry benchmarks.
• Research alternative materials, products, and construction methods.
• Lead value engineering initiatives and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Present estimates, pricing analysis, and recommendations to management and clients.
• Collaborate with project managers, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
• Assist with subcontractor selection and bid evaluation.
• Mentor and support junior estimators.
• Provide estimating expertise on complex projects.
• Support business development and pre-construction activities.
• Contribute to standardized estimating tools, processes, and guidelines.
• Participate in post-project reviews to improve future estimating accuracy.
• Stay current with construction industry developments, regulations, materials, and best practices.
• Continuously improve estimating processes and professional knowledge.

Qualifications & Experience

• Minimum 5 years of experience in building envelope estimating.
• Strong understanding of commercial and/or multifamily construction.
• Experience with architectural facades, metal roofing systems, cladding, and related building envelope scopes.
• Ability to accurately read and interpret construction drawings, plans, specifications, and contract documents.
• Strong knowledge of quantity takeoffs, costing, and bid preparation.
• Proficiency with PlanSwift and/or other quantity takeoff and estimating software.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and Word skills.
• Experience with On-Screen Takeoff or similar estimating software is an asset.
• Valid driver's license.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
