The CFO will provide strategic financial leadership to support the group's continued growth, profitability and operational excellence across its investment, development, asset management and construction platforms.

The role oversees all financial functions - accounting, budgeting, forecasting, capital structuring, financing, risk management and investor reporting - while building the financial systems, structures and processes required by a multi-entity organisation operating in a scaling development environment.

The ideal candidate has deep experience in construction, real estate development, investment management or related project-based industries, is a leader rather than an administrator, and thrives in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.

Key Responsibilities

Investment Management

  • Support the executive team on capital raising: fund and transaction structures, NAV, financial projections, subscription materials and data room preparation.
  • Design and maintain the corporate and holding structures across the group's entities, in coordination with legal and tax advisors.
  • Lead financial investor reporting: capital accounts, distributions, quarterly and annual reporting packages etc
  • Lead tax planning and structuring at the fund, entity and transaction level.
  • Strengthen governance: fund and partnership compliance, board and investment committee reporting, and audit coordination.

Development Management

  • Support acquisition analysis and negotiation in a supporting capacity
  • Own the development pro forma discipline: assumptions, sensitivity analysis and go / no-go recommendations.
  • Lead project budgeting and multi-year financial projections across the development pipeline.
  • Support the structuring and negotiation of land acquisition financing
  • Structure, secure and administer construction financing
  • Provide financial insight and recommendations on partnerships and joint ventures at the project level.

Asset Management

  • Lead refinancing strategy and execution across the stabilised portfolio, including timing, rate and term decisions.
  • Oversee property operating statements, NOI tracking and variance analysis against budget.
  • Monitor asset-level performance and recommend hold, sell or recapitalisation strategies.
  • Manage lender and mortgage compliance reporting for the income-producing portfolio.
  • Optimise liquidity and capital allocation across the portfolio and active projects.

Construction Company Management

  • Working in conjunction with the general managers of the construction business, own financial projections, work-in-progress reporting and cost-to-complete forecasting for the construction entity.
  • Manage lender relations tied to construction activity
  • Build and enforce the construction accounting process
  • Collaborate with the general managers, project managers, estimators and operations to align financial and project performance.

Accounting

  • Oversee day-to-day accounting, cash flow management, treasury, payroll and financial reporting across all entities.
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements,
  • Define the accounting structure across entities
  • Implement scalable systems and tools (ERP, project accounting, reporting) to support the group's growth.
  • Build and enhance internal financial controls, policies and procedures.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Partner with the CEO and executive team to develop long-term financial strategies aligned with organisational goals.
  • Provide financial insight and recommendations to guide decision-making on acquisitions, new developments, partnerships and capital investments.
  • Lead and mentor a growing finance and accounting team
  • Oversee financial, contractual and regulatory risk management

Profile

Qualifications & Experience

  • CPA designation required (CA, CMA or CGA).
  • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including 5+ years at a senior leadership or executive level.
  • A strategic focus and a proven ability to generate and secure investment.
  • Experience in construction development, real estate, investment management or project-based industries is strongly preferred.
  • Experience operating in a multi-entity environment, with consolidation and intercompany complexity.
  • Strong understanding of development financing, construction billing cycles and cost-to-complete forecasting.
  • Exposure to fund-level work - investor reporting, capital accounts, valuation and governance - is an asset.
  • Proven track record of building financial systems and teams in a growing company.
  • Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking and communication skills.
  • A leader who takes ownership and drives change, rather than administers the status quo.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial and evolving environment.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is a requirement

Job Offer

  • Competitive salary of up to CAD $350,000.
  • Total compensation includes base salary, bonus, and equity opportunities.
  • A minimum of four weeks' vacation annually.
