Accounts Receivable / General Accounting Clerk (1 year Term)

Pete’s Frootique & Fine Foods is looking for an organized, analytical, and detail-oriented

Accounts Receivable / General Accounting Clerk to join our Accounting Team.

This is a great opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys working with numbers, solving problems, building relationships, and contributing to projects that help a growing business operate more effectively.

In this role, you’ll play an important part in supporting the accounting operations of our retail stores and wholesale business, with approximately 50% of your time focused on Accounts Receivable and the remainder supporting reporting, projects, inventory administration, and general accounting activities.

What You’ll Do

Accounts Receivable

  • Process and post customer payments accurately and on time.
  • Monitor customer accounts and follow up on outstanding balances.
  • Communicate with customers and internal teams regarding account balances and payment issues.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Process customer credit applications.
  • Issue credit notes and account adjustments.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer account information.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end Accounts Receivable activities.
  • Identify and escalate issues that require further attention.

Projects, Reporting & Analysis

  • Create and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Prepare regular and ad hoc reports.
  • Analyze information, identify trends, and investigate discrepancies.
  • Support accounting projects and process improvement initiatives.
  • Help identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and processes.
  • Manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines.

Inventory & Accounting Support

  • Provide backup support for Inventory Administration.
  • Assist the Accounting Team with reconciliations, reporting, documentation, and other accounting activities.
  • Provide additional accounting support as business needs arise.

You Bring

  • A diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably including Accounts Receivable.
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and basic tax/accounting functions.
  • Experience with Sage 50 is an asset.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to recognize discrepancies and investigate when things “don’t add up.”
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities and projects at the same time.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The confidence to communicate information and present results when required.
  • A positive, proactive, and results-oriented approach.
  • The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • A commitment to building strong relationships with customers, colleagues, and business partners.

Work Environment & Schedule

  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Primarily regular business hours, with some flexibility required based on business needs.
  • Occasional evening or weekend availability may be required.
  • Occasional travel between Pete’s Frootique locations may be required.
  • Primarily an office-based, seated position, with occasional lifting/moving of items up to 50 lbs.
