Purpose of the position
Reporting to the Team Lead, Demand Generation, the Global Social Content Creator & Growth Manager brings the SMART brand to life through high-impact social content while driving audience growth, engagement, demand generation, and pipeline contribution. This full-time, Calgary-based role is responsible for identifying stories, producing compelling content, growing SMART's social presence, and using organic and paid social strategies to support business objectives.
The role works closely with the Senior Social Media Manager to execute the global social strategy and content calendar, while collaborating cross-functionally with Marketing, Product, Sales, Customer Experience, and other teams to develop content, accelerate audience growth, increase customer engagement, and identify opportunities to improve marketing performance through social channels.
Duties and Responsibilities
Create, schedule, publish, and optimize social media content across SMART’s key channels, including LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, and other relevant platforms, in alignment with the global strategy and content calendar.
Capture and edit photo and video content throughout SMART’s Calgary office, including employee stories, product demonstrations, events, launches, behind-the-scenes moments, and timely content opportunities.
Produce short-form video content, including reels, product walkthroughs, interviews, thought leadership clips, customer stories, event coverage, and trend-based formats.
Proactively identify stories, employees, products, customer successes, and business moments that can be transformed into compelling social-first content.
Execute social media strategies that drive audience growth, engagement, brand awareness, and demand generation outcomes.
Write platform-native social copy that reflects SMART’s brand voice, is tailored by channel, and optimized for global audiences in partnership with regional marketing teams.
Serve as SMART's social media subject matter expert, staying current on trends, platform best practices, and emerging content formats while bringing forward recommendations and growth opportunities that improve content and business outcomes.
Support integrated marketing campaigns through social content creation, campaign amplification, product storytelling, and event promotion.
Partner with Creative, Product Marketing, Demand Generation, Sales, Customer Education, and Leadership to identify and develop social-first stories.
Collaborate with Demand Generation and Digital Marketing teams to support lead generation, website traffic, campaign performance, and customer acquisition through social channels.
Identify opportunities to grow SMART's social presence through employee advocacy, customer storytelling, influencer relationships, community-building initiatives, and emerging platform opportunities.
Analyze content and campaign performance across reach, engagement, audience growth, traffic, lead generation, and conversion metrics to optimize future content and growth strategies.
Partner with the Senior Social Media Manager to maintain and execute the global social content calendar, coordinating content deadlines, approvals, publishing schedules, and channel coverage.
Core Competencies
Passion for social media, digital culture, content creation, and emerging platform trends.
Strong video-first storytelling skills, including filming, editing, scripting, hooks, captions, pacing, and platform-native formatting.
Comfortable capturing people, product moments, demos, events, and behind-the-scenes content in real time.
Strong visual eye for composition, lighting, framing, sound, and social-first production quality.
Ability to translate product, customer, and brand stories into clear, engaging content.
Strong understanding of organic and paid social media, audience development, content optimization, analytics, and engagement metrics.
Ability to balance creativity with data-driven decision making and adjust based on performance insights.
Familiarity with content creation, scheduling, and reporting tools such as Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, native platform tools, HubSpot, Salesforce, Google Analytics, or similar platforms.
Strong writing, editing, communication, and collaboration skills.
Ability to leverage AI tools where appropriate to accelerate content ideation, production, editing, and optimization.
Highly organized, proactive, adaptable, and able to manage multiple content requests, shoots, edits, and publishing deadlines.
Qualifications
Post-secondary degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, Public Relations, Broadcasting, Film, Design, or equivalent experience.
5+ years of experience in social media, content creation, digital marketing, communications, agency, brand, or media environment.
Portfolio required, with examples of social-first content creation, including short-form video, photography, captions, social graphics, or campaign content.
Experience creating content for B2B, technology, education, SaaS, EdTech, or product-led organizations is an asset.
Experience appearing on camera, directing others on camera, or interviewing employees/customers is an asset.
Experience in education, EdTech, instructional technology, teaching, training, or education-focused content creation is considered a strong asset.
Working Conditions
Full-time, Calgary-based role with regular in-office presence required to capture people, product, workplace, and event content.
Requires frequent movement throughout the office to coordinate quick content moments and collaborate with internal teams.
Fast-paced, collaborative environment with regular content deadlines, shifting priorities, and opportunities to react quickly to trends or business needs.
May require occasional travel to support events, customer stories, product launches, or regional content capture. A valid passport may be required.
Requires comfort working behind the camera and, where appropriate, helping direct or participate in social content creation.
