The Role
The radiation specialist position will provide technical, analytical, and logistical support, maintenance, and
quality assurance for the radiation protection programs at Cameco’s Mining Division. You will provide technical and analytical support for the radiation program as well as lead projects within the radiation departments. The position is shared by Cameco’s four northern Saskatchewan sites and reports to the corporate radiation protection manager in the compliance and licensing department.
In This Role You Will
- Provide technical and analytical support for the radiation program, including routine calibrations of radiation equipment and analyzing samples.
- Implement the radiation protection program and standards at the sites, including modifying or improving documentation, ensuring proper equipment use and consistency across the company.
- Provide routine support including:
- daily monitoring and sampling of radiological parameters;
- representing the radiation department at job hazard analyses;
- completing incident investigations;
- entering data in a database of worker and workplace radiation information; and
- managing radiation monitoring data and generating reports.
- Assist in the administration of radiation data.
Required
- bachelor’s degree in physics, engineering, or a related field;
- equivalent combination of education and work experience considered;
- excellent communication, interpersonal and analytical skills;
- work a 14-day rotational schedule and commute to site by aircraft; and
- work independently and as part of a team with safety as a core value.
Recommended
- knowledge or experience in the nuclear industry; and
- previous work experience with radiation protection principles and data analytics techniques.
