What’s The Team Like

The facility maintenance team ensures the smooth operation of all spaces at a busy 24/7 airport, keeping terminals, offices, and other buildings safe, functional, and well-maintained. They handle maintenance repairs, project related work, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems to support airport operations and passenger comfort. This team ensures safe, efficient, and reliable operations, supporting 24/7 airport activities and driving smart building initiatives.

What Are Some Of The Responsibilities

  • Lead the operation, maintenance, lifecycle management, and continuous improvement of airport terminal building electrical systems, including power distribution, emergency power generation, life safety systems, lighting systems, motors and controls, and electrical distribution infrastructure.
  • Establish and implement electrical maintenance, restoration, and reliability programs that maximize system performance, minimize operational disruptions, and support long-term asset sustainability.
  • Develop and oversee terminal building electrical safety programs, standards, procedures, and compliance activities to ensure adherence to applicable legislation, codes, Transport Canada requirements, and industry best practices.
  • Direct the planning, prioritization, and execution of electrical system upgrades, renewals, and technology improvements that enhance operational reliability, efficiency, and resiliency.
  • Lead departmental business planning, financial management, and budget development activities, including identifying operational efficiencies, cost recovery opportunities, and long-term infrastructure investment needs.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team of technical specialists while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage relationships and contracts with service providers, contractors, regulators, utilities, and internal stakeholders to ensure service delivery, compliance, and successful project outcomes.
  • Provide leadership during electrical incidents, emergencies, and planned or unplanned system outages to support safe and uninterrupted airport operations.

What Do You Need To Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field is required. A combination of an engineering technologist diploma and extensive/directly relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Professional designation such as PMP, P.Eng., P.Tech. or its equivalent is required. P.Eng. is preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in electrical systems management including life cycle management and electrical systems maintenance in a large-scale facility, leading a team of technical experts.
  • Minimum 5 years of leadership experience, including supervision, coaching, and development of teams or technical professionals in a complex operational environment.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing operational plans, managing departmental budgets, delivering infrastructure renewal initiatives, and implementing continuous improvement strategies.
  • Strong expertise overseeing electrical systems such as power distribution, emergency power generation, life safety systems, lighting systems, SCADA systems, motors and controls, and electrical infrastructure maintenance programs.
  • As this position is considered safety-sensitive, candidates must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as part of the hiring process.
  • This role includes driving as part of its duties; therefore, candidates will be required to provide a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a current driver’s abstract as part of the hiring process.

  • Graduate degree such as an MBA, Master of Engineering, or Master's degree in Leadership.
  • Professional certifications in project management, Lean Six Sigma, change management, asset management, or people leadership
  • Bilingual in English and French
