About The Role
The Junior Accountant supports the finance team across core accounting operations: month-end close, reconciliations, accounts payable and receivable, audit support, and management reporting. The role works closely with the Senior Accountant and Controller and sits at the centre of the day-to-day financial operations supporting our clients' portfolio companies.
This is hands-on, real accounting work from day one. There is no rotational program and no buffer between you and the books. You learn by doing, with senior people accessible and direct.
What you will do
- Prepare and post journal entries and routine adjustments
- Perform reconciliations for cash, accounts receivable, and accounts payable
- Process vendor invoices and customer invoicing, and maintain accurate AP and AR records
- Support month-end close by gathering, organizing, and validating financial data
- Prepare supporting schedules and respond to audit requests
- Assist with variance analysis, management reporting, and short-term cash flow tracking
- Work within accounting systems including QuickBooks Online and JobBOSS², maintaining organized digital files in line with internal standards
What we are looking for
- Bachelor's degree (or nearing completion) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Foundational knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting
- Exposure to AP/AR processing, reconciliations, and journal entries through internships, coursework, or prior junior accounting experience
- Strong attention to detail and comfort working accurately with numerical data
- Organized, dependable, and able to manage priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the broader MS Office suite
- Comfort learning new systems and working within digital documentation standards
- Knowledge of US GAAP and tax basics is an asset
- Working toward a CPA designation is an asset
Compensation and schedule
Salary range: $50,000 to $70,000 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Standard 37.5-hour work week. In-office during the probationary period, with the possibility of partial remote work afterward subject to role requirements and performance.
