Scope
The Building Maintenance 1 position helps keep City buildings safe, clean, and in good working condition. The role performs routine maintenance tasks, assists trades staff with repairs and construction work, maintains equipment and lighting, delivers materials, and reports building maintenance issues as they arise.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine building maintenance and basic equipment servicing.
- Clean, inspect, and complete simple adjustments on equipment and building systems.
- Conduct lighting fixture maintenance and replacement activities.
- Recognize, document, and report maintenance deficiencies, safety concerns, and potential equipment failures.
- Deliver materials, tools, and supplies to support maintenance and construction operations.
- Assist tradespersons with building maintenance, repair, and construction projects.
- Follow established maintenance schedules, safety regulations, City standards, and operational procedures.
- Maintain basic records related to inspections, maintenance activities, and work completed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12, supplemented by a relevant technical course in the building trades from a recognized post secondary vocational institution.
- Minimum of two years related experience in building maintenance and construction.
- Valid BC Driver's License with a safe driving history.
