The Supply Chain Procurement Team is looking to build a talent pool of qualified candidates for future opportunities at NB Power. This division plays a critical role in supporting NB Power’s success through strategic sourcing, category management, and contract optimization, ensuring reliable and cost-effective operations. The team supports both day-to-day operational requirements and large-scale capital projects through a strategic, data-driven, and value-focused approach to procurement.
Supply Chain employees manage inventory, oversee logistics processes, and procure materials, equipment, and services from reputable suppliers at the lowest total cost of ownership in a timely manner. Opportunities may include Buyer I, Buyer II, Senior Buyer and other related roles within the Supply Chain department.
We’re looking to build a talent pool for the following positions:
Buyer I & Buyer II: The Buyer is responsible for procuring materials, equipment, and services from reputable suppliers at the lowest total cost of ownership while ensuring compliance with applicable policy and legislation. The Buyer also provides advice and guidance to internal customers on tendering requirements and other aspects of the procurement process.
Senior Buyer: The Senior Buyer is responsible for leading and overseeing the end-to-end procurement process across various procurement methods. This role supervises a team of Buyers, providing leadership, training, mentorship, and functional guidance. The Senior Buyer ensures compliance with procurement and corporate policies, applicable legislation and regulations, and industry best practices. The role also leads procurement strategy and provides expert guidance, education, and oversight for complex procurement activities requiring strategic direction and regulatory compliance.
Our ideal candidate(s) will have
- University degree in Business Administration or two-year college diploma in Supply Chain
- Procurement or Supply Chain certification/designations (considered an asset)
We are looking for candidates with experience in the following areas:
- Supply Chain, logistics, procurement, strategic sourcing and category management. The required years of relevant experience will vary based on the classification level of the position.
- Data analysis, reporting, and continuous improvement
- Experience working with SAP or equivalent Enterprise Resource Planning system (ERP)
- Intermediate Microsoft Office 365 skills, including Excel
- Collaborating with technical experts and delivering client-focused service
- Public procurement or regulated environments (considered an asset)
- Contract development for professional services and construction (considered an asset)
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
