About The Opportunity

Our client, located in the west end of Ottawa, is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable & Payroll Specialist to join their finance team. This permanent opportunity is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys a hands-on role combining full-cycle accounts payable, payroll administration, and month-end accounting responsibilities. Reporting to the Controller, you will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records while supporting day-to-day finance operations in a collaborative environment.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Process high-volume accounts payable invoices, including PO and non-PO invoices
  • Prepare cheque runs and electronic payments
  • Maintain vendor records and reconcile vendor accounts
  • Monitor cash requirements related to vendor payments
  • Respond to vendor inquiries in a professional and timely manner
  • Complete monthly HST reconciliations and prepare remittances
  • Record and reconcile intercompany transactions and journal entries
  • Perform general ledger and bank reconciliations
  • Reconcile corporate credit card statements
  • Review and process employee expense reports
  • Maintain fixed asset records and reconcile prepaid expenses
  • Support month-end and year-end accounting activities
  • Process Canadian payroll using Ceridian PowerPay (or similar payroll software)
  • Prepare payroll remittances and statutory filings including WSIB, EHT, T4s, ROEs, taxable benefits, and other government reporting
  • Reconcile payroll and employee benefit accounts for audit purposes
  • Assist with additional accounting and finance projects as required

About You

The successful candidate will have the following:

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
  • Experience in full-cycle accounts payable and Canadian payroll processing
  • Working knowledge of payroll legislation, statutory remittances, and government reporting requirements
  • Experience performing reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end accounting
  • Experience working with ERP/accounting software and electronic payment platforms
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A collaborative approach and willingness to support the broader finance team

About the Job

  • Salary: $60,000 to $73,000 DOE
  • Hybrid environment, at least 2 days a week onsite
  • 3 weeks’ vacation
