Data Architect
Affinity
On behalf of our public sector client, Affinity is seeking a Data Architect to Architect providing expertise across enterprise data management, data migration strategy, governance, solution architecture, and systems integration.
The role involves working closely with business units, project teams, enterprise architecture, reporting specialists, and development teams to assess existing data sources, design future-state data structures, establish data governance standards, and support the successful implementation of an enterprise customer relationship management (CRM) platform.
Responsibilities
- Conduct evaluation and analysis of source data and target configuration;
- Develop high-level and detailed design specifications and architecture documents;
- Assess data quality and consistency across multiple sources;
- Estimate data cleansing and integration efforts;
- Make recommendations for data cleansing and standardization;
- Estimate resourcing requirements;
- Produce data models, metadata, data mappings, and configurations;
- Create data extract, cleansing and formatting scripts;
- Develop reuseable processes, standards and architecture building blocks;
- Consult with reporting specialists to optimize data for reporting;
- Assess master data management capabilities and opportunities and implement as required;
- Collaborate with ConnectPEI project teams and other development teams, such as myPEI, Data Services, and Enterprise Architecture, as required by the Province;
- Maintain and support the ConnectPEI data governance framework;
- Perform data literacy, education and outreach activities as required;
- Consult with data services to ensure alignment with ITSS data management policies, guidelines and standards;
- Create and maintain data glossaries and other documentation; and
- Complete other tasks as assigned by the Province.
Deliverables
Work Estimates
Consult with the ConnectPEI team and work units to determine data sources, analyze data sources for format, consistency and quality and make recommendations for data cleansing exercises, data standards, and provide cost and time estimates for data cleansing and data migration.
Data Mapping
Document target ConnectPEI data requirements and data definitions and define source data. Relate source data elements to target data elements and provide appropriate architectural diagrams.
Migration Scripts
Develop data migration workflows using standard ITSS tools including SQL scripts or macros to extract data or scripts to enhance ETL tool capabilities where necessary.
Documentation
Maintain documentation, including, but not limited to, data specifications, models, data flow diagrams, data mapping and business data glossaries.
Architectural and Process Diagrams
Diagrams and process including, but not limited to MDM data architecture, data governance frameworks, and data lifecycle processes.
Data Management Solutions
Implement data solutions such as databases or tools to manage deliverables such as an MDM schema, architecture repository, business data glossary, and data governance solution.
Qualifications
- A minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated experience performing data migrations in an enterprise environment;
- A minimum five (5) years of experience performing data management services in a development environment;
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience developing data management standards and processes;
- Experience working on eCRM implementation teams;
- Extensive knowledge of defining and implementing data requirements;
- Extensive knowledge of Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes;
- Extensive knowledge developing data mapping and data flow diagrams; and
- Excellent communications, interpersonal, and relationship management skills.
Experience In The Following Is Considered An Asset
- Experience working with government organizations; and
- Experience working with the Province of Prince Edward Island in a data management related role.
