Sciencetech, Inc. has an opening for a Mechanical-Electrical Assembly Technician. This is a permanent, full-time position with benefits. We are seeking someone with experience in manufacturing and mechanical assembly to join the manufacturing team at our London Ontario plant. As we are a low-volume/custom product manufacturer, we offer the successful candidate the opportunity to perform a wide variety of manufacturing tasks on a regular basis, and to have an immediate, visible impact on the success of our operations.

What you’ll be doing

Your primary responsibilities as a Mechanical-Electrical Assembly Technician will be related to assembling the mechanical portions of standard, semi-custom, and custom products, with some basic electrical assembly as required. These include delicate mechanical assemblies for use in optical spectroscopy.

  • Performing mechanical assembly in accordance with assembly drawings.
  • Able to assemble delicate and intricate mechanical assemblies with a systems thinking approach to how the end product should function.
  • Performing electrical assembly (chassis wiring and cable fabrication) as specified in drawings.
  • Troubleshooting electrical and mechanical components; reviewing and utilizing electrical and mechanical diagrams to preform repairs identified during the troubleshooting process.
  • Ensuring the quality of all work products through testing of assembled equipment.
  • Providing feedback to manufacturing and engineering teams for design/process improvement.
  • Helping to create and maintain assembly documentation (assembly procedures)
  • Helping to maintain a clean, well-organized, and safe working environment.

What you need

  • Electrical/Mechanical/Manufacturing technology credentials (diploma or degree) or 2+ years of equivalent experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • The ability to troubleshoot electrical equipment in a safe manner, using standard diagnostic tools (multimeter), with support from engineering.
  • The ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical part and assembly drawings.
  • The ability to navigate solid models in EDrawings
  • The ability to produce production-quality solder joints using standard hand soldering tools.
  • The ability to use basic hand tools.
  • The ability to lift objects up to 25kg.
  • A high level of manufacturing discipline.
  • A high level of safety awareness.
  • To be responsible, team-oriented, and process aware.
  • Detail orientation and strong focus while working.
  • The ability to use Microsoft application (Word, Excel) software on Windows computers
  • Familiarity with MRP systems (Odoo or others) a plus.
