Associate Manager

We are currently recruiting for an Associate Manager, Controls and Risk to join our corporate team.
This role sits at the intersection of risk management, internal controls, and business operations across a diverse group of companies. The successful candidate will work directly with subsidiary and corporate teams to support CEO/CFO certification requirements, strengthen EIC’s control environment, and provide insights that enhance decision-making, operational resilience, and long-term value creation.
Responsibilities
- Partnering with subsidiary executives and process owners to identify, assess, and enhance key internal controls supporting quarterly and annual CEO/CFO certifications.
- Performing risk-focused walkthroughs and interviews to update process documentation, risk assessments, and control matrices.
- Evaluating control design and operating effectiveness through testing, analytics, and professional judgment to identify meaningful risks, gaps, and improvement opportunities.
- Translating testing results and observations into clear, actionable insights for management and senior leadership.
- Supporting quarterly and annual control assessments, including preparation of reporting, deficiency tracking, and supporting documentation.
- Recommending practical and business-aligned solutions to address control weaknesses, process inefficiencies, and emerging risks.
- Acting as a trusted advisor to business leaders, fostering strong relationships and supporting a risk-aware culture across the organization.
- Contributing to process improvement initiatives at both the subsidiary and corporate level.
- Supporting internal training and knowledge-sharing initiatives to strengthen control awareness and consistency across business lines.
- Participating in acquisition due diligence and integration activities as required.
- Sharing of knowledge to support effective external audits as required.

Requirements
- Must be located in Winnipeg, Manitoba to support close collaboration with the corporate team and business leadership. This is an on-site, non-hybrid position.
- Strong understanding of internal control frameworks (COSO) and National Instrument 52-109 / CEO-CFO certification requirements.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in internal audit, external audit, or internal controls, including process documentation and risk assessment.
- Completion of an applicable professional designation (i.e. CPA, CIA, or equivalent).
- Demonstrated ability to apply risk-based thinking and exercise professional judgment in complex transactions or environments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work in a dynamic environment with a high volume of activity.
- Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build consensus at all levels of the organization.
- Ability to travel as required. Must hold a valid passport and Visa requirements for Canada/US travel.
- Experience in aviation, manufacturing, aerospace and/or IT controls is considered an asset.
- Experience in audit data analytics and/or generalized audit software is considered an asset.
