General Production (Slitting)

As a General Production worker, you will be responsible for safely operating the manual core recycling cutter, preparing reusable cores to support production requirements. This role also operates stretch wrapping equipment, performs routine maintenance on the wrapping units, and assists with packaging and material handling activities. As production needs require, the General Production worker provides support on the main slitters while maintaining a strong commitment to safety, quality, housekeeping, and teamwork.
Position Responsibilities
- Safely operate manual core cutting equipment to prepare reusable cores according to production requirements.
- Review production schedules and determine core cutting priorities to support upcoming jobs.
- Recycle used cores by cutting them into reusable sizes while minimizing material waste.
- Maintain accurate production records using Excel and communicate updates to supervisors as required.
- Collect, prepare, and stretch wrap finished pallets to company quality and packaging standards.
- Apply pallet labels, cardboard, and protective wrap to ensure products are packaged for safe shipment.
- Operate forklifts and other material handling equipment safely when required.
- Complete required production paperwork and maintain accurate core cutting schedules.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all safety procedures and standard operating practices.
- Collaborate with team members, assist with training new employees, and support continuous improvement, quality, and food safety initiatives.
Required Qualifiations
- Grade 12 diploma or equivalent.
- Good aptitude for machines.
- 6+ months of experience with hand tools, including tape measures.
- Ability to take instruction and work independently as well as part of a team.
- Good mathematical skills and ability.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous related work experience preferred.
8-Hour Shift Rotation
- Week 1 - Monday to Friday 7:00 - 3:00 (days)
- Week 2 - Monday to Friday 23:00 - 7:00 (nights)
- Week 3 - Monday to Friday 3:00 - 23:00 (afternoons)
- Week 4 - Repeat rotation starting at week 1
Additional Details
- The General Production position is 100% onsite, working on the production floor.
- We are located in Murray Industrial Park. There are limited bus services to this location.
