About the Role
The Fabricator is responsible for fabricating, fitting, and modifying components used in the construction of custom automated machinery, fixtures, and equipment. Working from engineered drawings and fabrication packages, the Fabricator produces high-quality parts that meet design specifications, manufacturing standards, and customer requirements. This role collaborates closely with Engineering and Manufacturing to identify improvements that enhance quality, functionality, manufacturability, and efficiency.

Wage: $31/hr. - $36/hr.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and fabrication packages to determine layouts, dimensions, and fabrication requirements
- Measure, cut, fit, assemble, and fabricate components for automated machinery and fixtures using approved fabrication methods and equipment
- Operate fabrication equipment including plasma cutters, band saws, drill presses, pedestal grinders, MIG welders, TIG welders, hand grinders, and other shop equipment
- Determine appropriate fabrication methods, materials, and welding processes based on engineering requirements and project specifications
- Collaborate with Engineering to resolve fabrication challenges, recommend design improvements, and support efficient manufacturing processes
- Fabricate components that meet dimensional tolerances, customer specifications, BOS quality standards, and aesthetic expectations
- Complete modifications to fabricated components resulting from engineering changes
- Inspect completed work to verify dimensional accuracy, fit, and overall quality before release to production
- Implement BOS standards while identifying opportunities to improve fabrication processes, tooling, and manufacturing efficiency
- Maintain compliance with health and safety procedures while ensuring a clean and organized work environment
- Mentor apprentices and new team members by sharing fabrication techniques and best practices

Requirements
- Diploma or certificate in Welding, Fabrication, Manufacturing, or a related skilled trade is considered an asset
- 3+ years of experience in fabrication, welding, or custom machinery manufacturing
- Proficiency with MIG and TIG welding, along with experience operating fabrication equipment such as plasma cutters, band saws, drill presses, grinders, and other shop tools
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, fabrication packages, and technical specifications
- Experience fabricating structural and mechanical components to precise dimensional tolerances and quality standards
- Strong understanding of fabrication methods, welding practices, and safe shop procedures
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to inspect completed work for dimensional accuracy, fit, and overall quality
- Ability to work collaboratively with Engineering and Manufacturing teams while supporting continuous improvement initiatives
