Production Accountant

Spartan is seeking an individual to fulfill the responsibilities of a Production Accountant to join the Finance & Accounting team. This role is primarily responsible for the analysis and accounting of properties with a moderate degree of complexity including executing a variety of assignments requiring a well-rounded knowledge of industry production and accounting principles and practices.

This is a full-time, in-office position based in our downtown Calgary location.

What You Will Do

  • Complete full cycle production and revenue accounting duties including master data setup on the production accounting system.
  • Maintain compliance through regulatory reporting requirements of the AER (Directive 7 and 17), APMC and EPAP controls by responding to open EPAP workflows and preparing and submitting yearly declarations.
  • Interpret and understand measurement schematics and the methodology for Gas Flow and IPS (Ideal Product Shrinkage) component allocations.
  • Gather and analyze volumetric activities, reconcile/balance revenue, book month-end cash receipts and royalty income invoices, and ensure processing fees are billed accurately and that fees to joint interest partners are accounted for properly.

Who You Are

  • Canadian Association of Petroleum Production Accounting (CAPPA) Certificate.
  • 5-8 years of related work experience in production accounting.
  • Proficient in production accounting and accounting software (e.g., Metrix, QByte FM, Petrinex) and oil and gas software (e.g., CS Explorer, EnergyLink, AFE Execute) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Post-secondary diploma or certificate in Accounting would be considered an asset.
