VFX Generalist (Vancouver only)

Dream Theory

Dream Theory is an AI-assisted visual effects studio helping production companies, agencies, and brands integrate emerging technology into professional post-production workflows. From broadcast series to national commercial campaigns, we combine traditional VFX techniques with AI-assisted workflows to deliver high-quality work efficiently without compromising creative standards.

We're looking for a VFX Generalist to join our growing Vancouver team. This role is ideal for someone with strong VFX fundamentals who is excited about how generative AI is reshaping post-production. While experience with AI tools is a plus, we're equally interested in artists with solid technical skills who are eager to learn and adapt.

What you'll be doing

  • Preparing footage for AI-assisted workflows through roto, masking, tracking, paint, and clean-up
  • Creating seamless composites that integrate AI-generated elements into live-action plates
  • Working closely with producers and supervisors to develop practical shot approaches
  • Troubleshooting challenging shots and finding efficient solutions within hybrid VFX pipelines
  • Performing quality control to ensure final shots meet broadcast and commercial standards
  • Collaborating with artists across traditional VFX and AI-assisted workflows
  • Helping refine internal tools, workflows, and best practices as the studio continues to evolve

What we're looking for

  • 2–5 years of experience in visual effects, motion graphics, or post-production
  • Strong understanding of compositing principles and shot finishing
  • Experience with roto, tracking, keying, paint, and clean-up work
  • Proficiency with Adobe After Effects
  • A strong eye for detail, continuity, realism, and image quality
  • Comfortable working across multiple projects and adapting to evolving workflows
  • A collaborative attitude and clear communication skills
  • Curiosity about AI-assisted creative workflows and emerging production technology

Nice to have

  • Experience with generative platforms such as Higgsfield, Google Flow, Runway, or similar tools
  • Experience with Blender, 3D animation, or motion graphics
  • Familiarity with Mocha, SynthEyes, PFTrack, or other tracking software
  • Experience working on commercial, broadcast, or feature productions

We're a boutique studio, so versatility is one of our biggest strengths. Our artists wear multiple hats, collaborate closely, and have the opportunity to help shape the future of AI-assisted visual effects. If you're excited about combining traditional VFX craftsmanship with emerging technology, we'd love to hear from you.

Dream Theory operates as a hybrid remote/in-studio workplace.
