Interim Vice President Finance

Reports to: CFO

Our client, which is a privately held manufacturing organization, is seeking an experienced Interim Finance Consultant to join its leadership team and support its flagship operations. The Windsor division includes multiple production facilities and represents the company’s largest and fastest-growing business unit during a period of significant expansion.

This is a senior finance leadership role, designed to provide strong financial governance, operational insight, and strategic decision support. The Finance Consultant will serve as a critical business partner to plant leadership and senior management—driving performance, supporting growth, and safeguarding the organization’s assets.

This role is well suited to a hands-on, data-driven finance leader with deep manufacturing experience who thrives in fast-paced, growth-oriented environments and brings both strategic perspective and shop-floor credibility.

Assignment Overview

The role requires close collaboration with plant management, operations, engineering, and corporate finance to translate financial data into actionable insights and ensure the Windsor operations are positioned to scale efficiently and profitably.

Key Accountabilities

Financial Leadership & Reporting

  • Lead plant budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes.
  • Analyze variances versus standards and budgets; prepare monthly and year-to-date financial results.
  • Present monthly and year-end financial performance to plant leadership and Finance.
  • Ensure strong internal controls, governance, and safeguarding of company assets.

Operational & Costing Excellence

  • Develop and maintain plant overhead standards, including labour models, machine speeds, material yields, and allocation methodologies.
  • Provide financial insight into manufacturing efficiency, productivity, and cost drivers.
  • Partner closely with operations to translate financial data into improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain an active on-site presence to understand operational performance at ground level.

Capital & Strategic Support

  • Prepare ROI analyses and financial evaluations for capital expenditure proposals.
  • Monitor capital spending and support capacity expansion initiatives.
  • Support strategic projects and cross-functional operational initiatives with financial insight.
  • Define and manage key reports, KPIs, and data systems supporting plant operations and Finance.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing divisional finance team.
  • Partner effectively with leaders across Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Corporate Finance.
  • Participate in cross-functional KPI, operations, and continuous improvement forums.

Experience & Background

The ideal candidate will bring

  • A university degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance; CPA designation required.
  • 10+ years of progressive finance or accounting experience, including 3+ years in a Controller/VP/CFO role.
  • Manufacturing industry experience required, with strong cost accounting and inventory management background.
  • Experience in a recognized accounting firm strongly preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with ERP and reporting tools (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics / Great Plains, Power BI).
