Cool Arts Society is a registered charitable organization providing inclusive Fine Arts education for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Kelowna, British Columbia.
Our mission is to provide high-quality artistic education where every artist can develop technical skills, explore new creative disciplines, exhibit their work, and grow in confidence through art.
As our programs continue to expand, we are looking for passionate Teaching Artists to join our Fall 2026 team.
About the position
The Fall Session runs from September 8 to November 14, 2026.
Classes are held once per week in our fully equipped studio at the Rotary Centre for the Arts.
Each class includes:
- Maximum of 10 artists
- Two volunteer assistants supporting the instructor
- Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Creative freedom to design your own curriculum around the Fall theme: IDENTITY
We encourage instructors to create a cohesive artistic journey throughout the ten-week session.
Photography, Mosaic, Glass Art, Print Making, Fibre Arts, Stop Motion Animation, Sculpture, Clay, Drawing, Charcoal, Ink Art …and any other Fine Arts discipline.
Responsabilities
- Design and teach engaging weekly Fine Arts classes.
- Develop a creative curriculum connected to the seasonal theme.
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Adapt projects to different learning styles and abilities.
- Collaborate with volunteer assistants and the Executive Director.
- Prepare the classroom before each lesson and reset the studio afterward.
Compensation
Each weekly class is compensated as a complete teaching package.
Earn between $100 and $160 per weekly class, depending on experience and qualifications.
The compensation includes:
- 1 hour paid lesson preparation
- 2 hours teaching
- 1 hour paid studio clean-up and reset
In addition, instructors receive a $150 Seasonal Curriculum Planning Honorarium
at the beginning of each season to develop their curriculum in collaboration with the Executive Director.
A dedicated parking space is provided for every teaching day.

- Are organized, creative and collaborative
- Can create engaging artistic experiences for adults with diverse abilities
Experience working with adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities is considered an asset but is not required. If you are passionate about teaching and willing to learn, we encourage you to apply.
