About the Opportunity
Our client is a Calgary-based public practice firm specializing in accounting, tax, valuation, and wealth planning. Led by three experienced Partners and supported by a collaborative team of approximately 15 professionals and administrative staff, the firm combines big-firm expertise with a personalized, client-first approach.
They are seeking an experienced Manager to join their leadership team. This role is ideal for a professional with seven to ten or more years of experience in a public accounting firm who thrives in a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.
You will oversee compliance and review engagement files, manage personal and corporate tax returns, and provide strategic guidance to clients and staff alike.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- In this position, you will lead and manage compliance and review engagement files, ensuring accuracy and adherence to professional standards
- You will oversee the preparation and review of personal and corporate tax returns while providing proactive tax planning and consulting
- Building and maintaining strong client relationships will be central to your success, as you bring credibility through technical expertise, curiosity about their business, and clear communication
- You will supervise, mentor, and develop junior staff, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional growth
- Strong organizational skills will be essential as you manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities
- Beyond core compliance work, you will contribute to specialized service areas such as business valuations, tax advisory, and wealth and estate planning
- You will also collaborate closely with Partners on client strategy, business development, and firm growth initiatives
About You
The successful candidate will be responsible for or assist with the following:
- Hold a CPA designation, any progress toward CBV or In-depth considered an asset
- You will bring 7-10 or more years of progressive experience in a professional accounting firm, including at least 2-3+ three years in a leadership or supervisory capacity
- Strong technical expertise in accounting, assurance, and tax is required, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with CaseWare, TaxCycle, QuickBooks, and Sage
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to inspire confidence in clients and staff
- You will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
