Organization Description
Amicus Health Access Initiative for Ontarians is a non-profit organization focused on significantly reducing wait times for medical diagnostic imaging, such as ultrasounds, from weeks or months to just a few days. To introduce the initiative to public and attract community support, it's planned to have several events during the year. Volunteers play a key role in helping the organization connect with communities and support its mission of timely, accessible healthcare.
Role Description
As a Volunteer for events, you will support the planning, coordination, and promotion of virtual and in-person community outreach activities. In this volunteer role, you may help with organizing event logistics, communicating with participants and partners, and assisting with event registration and follow-up. You will contribute to event marketing by sharing information through digital channels, helping develop outreach materials, and supporting efforts to increase participation and awareness. Tasks can include responding to inquiries, providing friendly support to attendees, and collaborating with the team to ensure events run smoothly and reflect the organization’s mission.
Qualifications
- Resident of Ottawa region
- Strong customer service skills with a focus on being helpful, patient, and respectful to community members and event participants.
- Clear and professional communication skills, including the ability to write concise messages and speak effectively with diverse audiences.
- Experience or interest in event planning, including organizing details, coordinating schedules, and supporting virtual or in-person activities.
- Familiarity with event marketing and sales outreach, such as promoting events online, engaging potential participants, and supporting partner relationships.
- Comfort using common digital tools (email, video conferencing, social media) and the ability to work independently in a remote setting.
- Strong organizational skills, reliability in meeting commitments, and a collaborative approach to working with volunteers and staff.
- Passion for improving healthcare access and supporting community initiatives in Ontario; prior volunteer or community engagement experience is an asset.
