Salary: $25.00 – $28.00 / hour, based on experience and training

Job Type: Temporary fixed-term, Part-Time Schedule: 3 – 4 days / week (possible flexibility on specific days worked per week)

The Vancouver Waldorf School (VWS) is seeking a temporary, part-time Grade School Receptionist for our Lynn Valley campus to manage our front desk, provide first aid, and perform various administrative and clerical tasks.

As Grade School Receptionist, you will be the face of our school. You will greet students, parents and other visitors as they enter the building daily. You will coordinate front-desk activities, including answering and redirecting phone calls, distributing correspondence, scheduling room usage and handling other general administrative tasks. The Grade School Receptionist plays a vital role in maintaining a positive image for the school.

  • Skillful in multitasking and time management, with the ability to prioritize tasks

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint, and Email) and general comfort with technology and systems use
  • Experience as a Receptionist, Front Office Representative or similar role is a plus

Duties

The Receptionist has a wide range of responsibilities, which include:

  • Coverage of reception desk, greeting visitors, parents, and students
  • Assist teachers with day-to-day needs, including form creation/distribution/collection, Faculty Room upkeep
  • Attend to student needs throughout the day
  • First Aid Attendant for Grade School
  • Attendance management & submission
  • Admissions assistance (lead follow-up), when required
  • Providing administrative support to the Administrative Team as needed
  • Assisting faculty and staff with transportation needs and room bookings
  • Answer, screen and forward incoming phone calls
  • Collect and distribute mail and messages to teachers and staff members
  • Grocery Card distribution
  • Maintain campus security by following safety procedures, scheduling fire and earthquake drills
  • Order office supplies and keep an inventory of stock
  • Ensure the reception area is tidy and presentable, with all necessary stationery and material (e.g. pens, forms and brochures)
  • Perform other clerical receptionist duties such as filing, photocopying, and transcribing
  • Engage in department meetings and professional development sessions
