We are currently seeking and have an immediate opening to fill the position of Regional Operations Manager – Western Canada, ideally based out of Edmonton or Calgary, AB.

SUMMARY

The Regional Operations Manager is responsible for the overall operational performance, organizational effectiveness, and financial results of the Western Canada region, encompassing locations across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. In partnership with the VP, Operations & Supply Chain and executive leadership team, this individual will co-develop and execute multi-year regional operating plans, capital investment priorities, and organizational strategies that support business growth and operational excellence.

This individual is accountable for regional operating performance, workforce and organizational design decisions, leadership development, continuous improvement initiatives, and the successful implementation of strategic business priorities. This includes representing the Western Canada region in national leadership forums, supporting merger & acquisition integration activities, and ensuring operational readiness to support future growth while delivering consistent operational excellence across all locations.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and optimize operational performance across all Western Canada service centers, ensuring consistent execution of standards across safety, customer service, productivity, inventory management, and operational excellence.
  • Partner with the VP, Operations & Supply Chain to co-develop and execute multi-year regional operating plans, strategic priorities, and capital investment initiatives.
  • Own the regional operating budget and forecast, including variance analysis, financial performance reviews, and corrective action planning to achieve profitability and growth objectives.
  • Drive regional financial performance, including revenue growth, cost control, margin improvement, working capital management, inventory optimization, and overall profitability.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Branch Managers and regional leaders, strengthening leadership capability, succession planning, and organizational effectiveness across the region.
  • Own workforce and organizational design decisions within the region, including organizational restructuring, branch consolidation initiatives, leadership alignment, and resource planning.
  • Represent the Western Canada region in national leadership meetings, quarterly business reviews, and executive planning discussions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by identifying performance gaps, standardizing processes, implementing best practices, and improving operational efficiency across locations.
  • Lead regional safety performance by monitoring leading and lagging indicators, overseeing incident investigations, conducting root cause analysis, and ensuring corrective actions are effectively implemented and sustained.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate policies, regulatory requirements, operational controls, and safety standards across all locations.
  • Partner with Regional Sales Leaders and cross-functional teams including Finance, Human Resources, Procurement, Supply Chain, and Technology to align operational capabilities with business objectives and customer requirements.
  • Provide operational leadership and integration support for acquisitions within the Western region, including organizational alignment, process integration, and performance stabilization activities.
  • Oversee regional inventory management, replenishment, service delivery, and operational planning to ensure product availability, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Partner with vendors and suppliers on service, quality, and performance issues affecting the region, escalating unresolved matters to Procurement and Supply Chain leadership as required.
  • Lead the implementation of operational systems, process improvements, and change management initiatives that support business growth and operational excellence.
  • Conduct regular branch visits to reinforce standards, develop leaders, assess operational effectiveness, and strengthen customer and employee engagement.
  • Prepare and present regional business reviews, operational performance updates, forecasts, strategic plans, and recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Lead special projects and enterprise-wide initiatives as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related discipline; MBA or advanced business education is strongly preferred.
  • 10–15 years of progressive leadership experience in operations, distribution, supply chain, industrial services, or a related environment, including significant multi-site leadership responsibility.
  • Demonstrated experience contributing to strategic planning, multi-year business planning, capital allocation decisions, organizational design, and enterprise growth initiatives.
  • Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, integrations, or major organizational change initiatives is strongly preferred.
  • Strong financial and business acumen with experience managing regional budgets, forecasts, profit and loss performance, working capital, inventory, and operational investments.
  • Proven success leading geographically dispersed teams and developing high-performing leaders across multiple locations.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence executive stakeholders and translate strategic objectives into measurable business outcomes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities, with a track record of delivering operational and financial improvements.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, coaching, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Travel up is anticipated to be 30-50% within the assigned region, with flexibility based on business requirements.
