Volunteer Director Opportunity

Canadian Mental Health Association – Cowichan Valley Branch (CMHA-CVB) is seeking

passionate, community-minded individuals to join our Board of Directors.

About CMHA–CVB

As a locally based registered charity and a strong champion for mental health, CMHA–CVB works to

ensure people have access to the resources they need to maintain and improve mental wellness,

build resilience, strengthen community integration, and support recovery from mental illness

and addiction.

The Opportunity

As a Volunteer Director, you will play an essential leadership role in guiding our organization’s

vision and impact. This is a unique chance to contribute your expertise while helping shape mental

health services in the Cowichan Valley.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing strategic oversight and governance
  • Supporting organizational planning and growth
  • Ensuring alignment with our mission and community needs
  • Collaborating with fellow board members and leadership
  • Acting as an ambassador for mental health awareness and advocacy

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome individuals who:

  • Are passionate about mental health, recovery, and community well-being
  • Bring experience in leadership, governance, or relevant professional fields (e.g., health,

finance, legal, HR, community services)

  • Demonstrate strong collaboration and decision-making skills
  • Reflect the diversity of the communities we serve
  • Can commit to regular board meetings (9 per year)
