As we expand, we’re seeking an Electrical Design Lead, to help us innovate and optimize product designs for both custom projects and scalable manufacturing.
Position Overview
As an Electrical Design Lead, you will be responsible for developing and detailing the Electrical aspects of electrical equipment and components. You'll work closely with engineers, project managers, production teams, and customers to ensure every project is delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical wiring systems for control panels, switchgear, and protection equipment, including schematics, single-line and three-line diagrams, cable sizing, BOMs, and assembly documentation using AutoCAD or other software.
- Specify and select electrical components in compliance with project requirements, the Canadian Electrical Code, CSA C22.2 No. 31, and utility/customer standards.
- Estimate materials, prepare charge sheets, and support procurement processes.
- Provide technical guidance to shop floor personnel to ensure accurate and efficient assembly.
- Conduct and review power system studies using SKM or ETAP, including short circuit, coordination, and arc flash analysis.
- Program protective relays and PLCs for power distribution and control applications.
- Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and coordination with utilities, clients, and regulatory bodies.
- Professionally seal electrical design documents (for P.Eng. applicants) for client and regulatory submittals.
- Perform site visits for design validation, field data collection, and installation planning.
- Manage and organize project files and documentation according to internal standards.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment on technical details and project goals.
- Maintain REV’s safety, quality, and compliance standards across all work.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and perform other tasks as needed to meet company objectives.
Qualifications
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent from a Canadian recognized institution).
- Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience.
- P.Eng required.
- Proficient in ETAP / SKM.
- Knowledge of applicable codes and standards: CSA, IEEE, Canadian Electrical Code (C22.1).
- Experience with industrial control panels (CSA C22.2 No.14) and LV/MV switchgear is a strong asset.
- Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written).
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills, a positive attitude, and attention to detail.
- Willingness to perform occasional site visits.
