Junior Social Media & Content Coordinator

Media Shop Collective

Location: St. Albert, AB

Type: Full-Time, In-Office

Reports To: CEO & Creative Lead

Media Shop Collective, a four time internationally award-winning digital and design agency located in the heart of St. Albert, AB, is expanding, and we’re on the lookout for a creative and talented Junior Social Media & Content Coordinator to join our growing team. Our mission is simple - make our agency partners SHINE! We’re searching for someone who is passionate about web design, user experience, and the power of SEO to drive results.

The Role

We're looking for a creative, driven junior team member to join us as our next Social Media & Content Coordinator. Working under our Creative Lead, this person lives and breathes social media. The ideal candidate knows what's trending before it hits the mainstream, they can turn a simple idea into a scroll-stopping reel, and they can communicate clearly with the team and our agency partners.

This is a junior role, so we're not expecting you to set strategy on day one. We are expecting you to execute at a high level, bring great ideas to the table, and grow quickly with the support of our Creative Lead. You'll also work closely with our CEO on marketing priorities and agency partner ideation, so this is a fantastic opportunity to learn from leadership and get exposure well beyond a typical junior role.

If you're the kind of person who always has three content ideas queued up, loves the energy of agency life, and can write engaging copy that resonates with its intended audience, we want to hear from you.

What You'll Do

  • Stay ahead of social media trends, platform updates, and content formats, and bring fresh ideas to the Creative Lead
  • Shoot, edit, and produce high-quality photos, videos, and reels that are creative, on-brand, and built to perform, under the direction of the Creative Lead
  • Execute content concepts from concept through final delivery, incorporating feedback from the Creative Lead
  • Communicate ideas clearly to the team, and confidently to agency partners as you grow into the role
  • Write compelling captions, scripts, and copy across platforms
  • Support the Creative Lead in applying marketing fundamentals to ensure content supports broader brand and campaign goals
  • Juggle multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, ever-changing agency environment
  • Build strong relationships with agency partners, bringing a customer-first mindset to every interaction
  • Act as a marketing assistant to the CEO, supporting day-to-day marketing initiatives, priorities, and special projects as needed
  • Contribute to ideation for agency partner work, working alongside the CEO and Creative Lead from early brainstorm through execution
  • Move quickly between planning and hands-on execution — from concept, to shoot, to edit, to publish

Must-Haves

  • Diploma or degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business, or equivalent experience/portfolio demonstrating these skills.
  • Proven experience creating social media content that converts and engages — not just content that looks good, but content that drives results
  • Excellent editing skills using CapCut, Canva, and Adobe (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, etc.)
  • Ability to think fast and move fast — quick to generate ideas, quick to execute, and comfortable making decisions on the fly
  • Hands-on experience shooting and editing photo/video content, with a portfolio of reels or short-form video work
  • Experience in customer service or sales, with a knack for building relationships and understanding client needs

What You Bring

  • A finger on the pulse of social media trends, culture, and platform best practices
  • A strong creative eye paired with the ability to execute — you don't just have ideas, you bring them to life
  • Excellent communication skills; comfortable presenting ideas to teammates and leadership, and growing into presenting to agency partners
  • Solid understanding of marketing fundamentals (audience, brand voice, campaign goals, performance metrics)
  • Strong writing skills — you can adapt tone and voice across brands and platforms
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a fast pace — agency life doesn't come with a fixed script
  • Strong organizational skills and follow-through — able to support executive priorities while managing your own workload
  • A high degree of trust, discretion, and professionalism when working closely with leadership
  • A personable, collaborative attitude — you're someone the team (and agency partners) genuinely enjoy working with
  • Resourcefulness and a problem-solving mindset — you find a way to get it done, even under a tight turnaround

Nice to Have

  • Familiarity with social analytics/reporting tools (Meta Business Suite, TikTok Analytics, etc.)
  • Prior agency experience
  • Experience supporting an executive or founder in a fast-moving environment
  • A personal or professional portfolio showcasing content you've created

Compensation

$48,000 – $55,000 CAD/year, based on experience.

Why Join Us

  • Hands-on mentorship from our Creative Lead and direct exposure to CEO-level marketing decisions; rare access for a junior role
  • Work across a variety of agency partners spanning professional services, home builders, health and wellness, and more
  • Be part of an award-winning, tight-knit team (2025 international marketing awards for brand, website, and campaign excellence)
  • A comprehensive benefits plan after 3 months (full-time only)
  • Supportive, fun, and creative work environment
  • WFH Fridays
