Forklift Mechanic

We are looking for a dedicated, organized, and flexible individual to join our Equipment Maintenance Team at 250 Royal Oak Road, Cambridge.

This position is for a Forklift Mechanic responsible for the inspection, maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of our fleet of forklifts, material handling equipment, and related machinery.

Schedule: Monday to Thursday: 7:00 am – 4:30 pm and Friday: 7:00 am – 3:30 pm.

Responsibilities

1. Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and emergency repairs on forklifts and material handling equipment.
2. Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, fuel, and propane systems.
3. Troubleshoot and repair drive motors, steering systems, brakes, transmissions, and lift mechanisms.
4. Conduct safety inspections and ensure equipment meets operational and regulatory requirements.
5. Maintain accurate service and repair records.
6. Perform repairs and maintenance at company facilities and customer locations as required.
7. Identify parts requirements and assist with inventory management.

Qualifications

1. Experience as a Forklift Mechanic, Heavy Equipment Technician, Automotive Technician, or similar mechanical trade.
2. Valid G Class Driver's Licence with a clean driving record.
3. Experience with electric, propane, and diesel-powered forklifts.
4. Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
5. Experience with troubleshooting and diagnostics using modern testing equipment.
6. Welding and fabrication experience is considered an asset.
7. Mobile equipment, aerial lift, or material handling equipment experience is considered an asset.
8. Strong verbal and written communication skills.
9. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
10. Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
