Legal Assistant– Estates and Commercial Litigation - 3+ Years - London (Hybrid)

Lerners is seeking a Legal Assistant to support the Dispute Resolution & Advocacy practice group in the London, Ontario office. The ideal candidate will have over three years of experience working in a similar position. The primary duties include legal administrative and practice support for multiple busy litigation lawyers with practices in estates litigation and commercial litigation. This is a Hybrid position and requires a minimum of three days per week in the office.

Primary Responsibilities
- Serve as a key administrative and practice support resource including scheduling calls, meetings, examinations, appointments, and maintaining ongoing client communications.
- Coordinate and maintain lawyer calendars, meetings, deadlines, reminders, and an effective bring-forward system.
- Request conflict checks and assist with opening, maintaining, and closing files.
- Draft, format, proofread, and process legal documents and correspondence based on precedents.
- Prepare, compile, serve, file, and track court and tribunal materials, including motion records and other legal documents.
- Monitor key deadlines and procedural requirements, applying knowledge of applicable rules and processes to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Organize, maintain, scan, and upload file materials within the firm's document management system.
- Compile, upload, and transmit documents securely through electronic filing systems, secure file transfer platforms, and online portals.
- Prepare, send, and follow up on client invoices and related administrative matters.
- Communicate professionally with clients, courts, experts, service providers, and other external stakeholders.
- Independently prioritize competing demands and resolve non-routine administrative and procedural issues using sound judgment and established practices.
- Handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in managing changing priorities and practice needs.
- Perform other duties related to the administration of the practice.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience as a Legal Assistant, preferably within a litigation environment.
- Strong knowledge of legal administrative procedures and applicable court or tribunal processes.
- Strong understanding of the Rules of Civil Procedure, including service requirements, filing procedures, and limitation and procedural deadlines.
- Proven ability to identify and resolve non-routine issues through the appropriate interpretation of procedures, methods, and standards.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong commitment to client service and professionalism.
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing priorities, workloads, and practice needs.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Advanced proficiency with legal technology and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience with ACL, Case Center, Justice Services Online (JSO), RelativityOne, iManage, and/or OneDrive is considered an asset.
- Experience working in a hybrid or remote work environment is considered an asset.

Target Hiring Range: $55,670- $65,900
Commensurate with skill level, years of experience, and aligned with internal and market equity.
