Project Coordinator
GARDNER ELECTRIC LTD
Electrical Construction Coordinator – Gardner Electric – Saint John, NB
Gardner Electric is an electrical contractor delivering commercial and industrial projects across the Maritimes. We’re hiring an Electrical Construction Coordinator to join our team and help us run our projects smoothly from award through closeout.
This is a full-time, permanent role based out of our Saint John office, reporting to a Project Manager, with occasional site visits as projects require.
What you’ll do
• Coordinate electrical scope on commercial and industrial construction projects from pre-construction through commissioning and closeout
• Review drawings, specifications, and submittals; flag issues before they hit the field
• Manage RFIs, change orders, and field directives — keep them moving and properly documented
• Develop and maintain project schedules in coordination with project managers, foremen, and general contractors
• Track long-lead equipment (switchgear, transformers, MCCs, large cable orders) and stay ahead of delivery risk
• Coordinate with engineers, GCs, sub-trades, and the utility to keep work fronts open
• Support estimating with takeoffs, vendor pricing, and scope reviews as needed
• Help prepare closeout packages: red-lines, O&M manuals, commissioning records, warranty documentation
• Contribute to a strong safety and quality culture on every project
What we’re looking for
• CET (Certified Engineering Technologist) designation in electrical, or eligibility through NBSCETT — TGITs working toward certification are welcome to apply
• NBCC Electrical Engineering Technology diploma or equivalent
• Comfort reading single-line diagrams, schematics, panel schedules, and specifications
• Working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and familiarity with relevant CSA standards
• Strong organizational skills and the judgment to know what needs attention now versus next week
• Solid communication skills — you’ll be the bridge between the office, the field, engineers, and clients
• Strong Excel skills (formulas, tables, basic data manipulation) — not just opening spreadsheets
• Proficiency with Bluebeam or other PDF tools for drawing markups, takeoffs, and overlays
• Strong document control and file management discipline across shared drives or SharePoint
• Comfortable learning new software quickly
• Open to using AI tools to accelerate routine work (drafting, summarizing, document review)
• Valid driver’s license
Nice to have
• Prior experience with an electrical contractor or in construction project coordination
• Familiarity with Procore, Accubid, ConEst, or similar
• Experience with industrial projects (motor controls, medium voltage, instrumentation)
What we offer
• Competitive salary: $60,000 to $72,000 based on experience
• Health and dental benefits
• A team that takes pride in doing the work right and treats coordinators as part of the project leadership, not paperwork pushers
• Stable pipeline of work across the Saint John region and broader NB
