Working with the Town of Newmarket’s Recreation and Culture Team, means the opportunity to make a difference and connect with your community! The Successful Candidate will:

  • Provide courteous customer service to patrons before, during, and after performances at concession and bar areas.

  • Ensure public areas, lobbies, and seating areas are clean and tidy, including light cleaning duties between events and in between performances.

  • Organize and maintain storage rooms and front-of-house supplies.

  • Monitor facilities to ensure compliance with safety and accessibility standards. Assists patrons with accessibility needs, mobility devices or special accommodation as required.

  • Respond appropriately to patron inquiries and concerns.

  • Assist with opening and closing procedures for events.

  • Experience in customer service, hospitality, or performing arts environments an asset.

  • Familiar with Town of Newmarket and the Town of Newmarket events an asset.

  • Smart Serve certification required or ability to obtain prior to employment.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to deal courteously and effectively with all levels of staff, patrons, and the pubic.

  • Ability to meet the requirement of standing for extended periods and performing light lifting.

  • Work takes place in an active theatre environment with varying noise and lighting levels.

  • Current Intermediate First Aid & CPR-C certification required.

  • Working knowledge of health and safety legislation and associated procedures as it relates to the health and safety of patrons.

  • Availability to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as required by event schedules including part-time, on-call hours based on performance schedules.

  • Due to the nature of the contacts of this position a Police Vulnerable Sector Check satisfactory to the Town is required.

Please Note: Certifications are not required at time of application but must be obtained prior to job commencement. The Town of Newmarket may offer opportunities for certification.
