About the Opportunity
Our client is one of Canada's leading construction organizations, delivering some of the country's most complex and high-profile building and infrastructure projects. With a growing portfolio of major projects ranging from $1.5 million to over $1 billion, they are seeking an experienced Cost Manager to join their Project Management team.
This is an opportunity to play a critical role in the financial success of large-scale projects by leading cost control functions, driving financial performance, and supporting project teams with strategic decision-making.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Lead and mentor project cost control teams on major projects, including task allocation, training, and development
- Develop, implement, and maintain cost control processes and procedures across project teams
- Oversee project dashboards and reporting tools while identifying opportunities to optimize budgets and improve performance
- Partner closely with Construction, Procurement, and Contracts teams to support project delivery
- Analyze project performance, including progress, quantities, earned value, entitlements, and key financial metrics
- Lead proactive cost management initiatives, including budget recalibration, overhead management, contract strategy, and management of cost variances
- Manage project contingencies and maintain accurate forecasts and projections
- Align cost forecasting structures with project schedules and work breakdown structures
- Evaluate the financial impact of schedule changes, delays, acceleration strategies, and resequencing activities
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of project management and cost control methodologies
About You
The successful candidate will have the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Management, Construction Management, or a related discipline
- 10+ years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership capacity
- Strong experience in project cost management, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting
- Excellent understanding of Project Management Information Systems (PMIS)
- Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Bilingual in English and French, both written and spoken
- Working knowledge of project scheduling principles, ideally with Primavera P6
- Additional Assets
- Previous experience within the construction industry, particularly on large and complex projects
- Experience with enterprise systems such as SAP, Procore, or similar platforms
- Familiarity with project controls and cost management software such as InEight, CostX, DESTINI, or equivalent tools
