About Grengine

Grengine is a Canadian manufacturing company developing cyber-secure modular battery systems and energy storage platforms for remote, off-grid, and defence applications.

Based in Edmonton, we design and manufacture BMS (Battery Management System), modular battery packs, and containerized energy systems for harsh environments. Our systems are already operating in Arctic deployments and defence pilot programs, and are now transitioning from advanced prototypes into certification-ready platforms.

Role Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Electronics Technologist to support the final stabilization and validation of an advanced battery management and energy storage platform.

This role focuses on hardware understanding, PCB rework, structured validation, and pre-certification testing. You will onboard in to existing designs, identify documentation and validation gaps, and help ensure the system is fully testable, traceable, and ready for certification pathways.

This is a highly practical role working directly with prototype hardware, test setups, and engineering teams to translate near-complete designs into validated, repeatable systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support onboarding and technical understanding of existing BMS and battery system hardware
  • Identify and resolve gaps in documentation, traceability, and test coverage
  • Execute structured validation and pre-certification test activities
  • Perform PCB rework, soldering, and prototype hardware modifications
  • Support hardware test setup development and validation execution
  • Translate system behavior into measurable validation criteria with engineering teams
  • Assist with failure analysis and iterative hardware improvements
  • Contribute to preparing systems for early manufacturing readiness

Requirements

  • Certified Engineering Technologist (CET) designation (required)
  • Hands-on experience with electronics hardware, PCB rework, or embedded systems
  • Experience in lab-based testing, validation, or prototype debugging
  • Strong attention to detail and structured documentation practices
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-moving engineering environment
  • Comfortable working with evolving prototypes and incomplete documentation

Nice to Have

  • Experience with battery systems, power electronics, or energy storage hardware
  • Exposure to pre-certification or compliance-driven testing environments
  • Familiarity with Testing, Evaluation, Verification and Validation workflows, or regulated industries
  • Experience in aerospace, defence, automotive, or energy sectors
  • Ability to support prototype PCB soldering and modifications

Impact

This role is critical in transforming advanced prototype systems into validated, certification-ready energy platforms. Your work ensures system behavior is fully understood, documented, and defensible under structured Testing, Evaluation, Verification and Validation processes, directly enabling deployment in Arctic, defence, and remote infrastructure environments.
