About the Position
The Lethbridge Polytechnic’s School of Justice Studies is seeking applications for a full-time continuing instructor in the School of Justice Studies assigned to the Criminal Justice-Policing Diploma program however, teaching assignments may be across the Centre for Justice and Human Services.
We are seeking an instructor who is passionate about teaching and dedicated to supporting students in their educational journey. As a member of the school instructional team, faculty participate in a collaborative teaching environment, and may instruct online courses. Faculty are responsible for curriculum development, all assessments, supporting student recruitment, student retention, participation in program and college level committees, and are encouraged to participate in applied research.
Position Details
The individual will have a strong, extensive background in a diverse range of leading edge policing practices with the ability to bring this information to the classroom. The successful applicant will be able to instruct a variety of specialized courses (Law, Career, Investigative Techniques, Specialized Policing, Crisis and De-escalation) in the program as well as other courses across the School of Justice Studies.
- Candidates selected for interviews will be required to present a mini lesson on a policing related topic as part of the interview process.
Required Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline is required.
- A minimum of 10 years’ recent experience in the field of policing is required.
- Previous instructional experience in a post-secondary setting or involved with agency training planning and delivery.
- Experience with a specialty investigative unit(s) is required
- Experience with complex investigations including trials is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masters Degree in a related field (completed or in progress)
- Excellent organizational and communication skills and comfortable with technology in the classroom.
- Experience which reflects varied and increasing levels of responsibility is beneficial.
- Experience developing training curriculum.
Salary
Commensurate with education and experience in accordance with the Faculty Collective Agreement
